So did you figure out was it really a stocker cam in there from the mixup? What cam did you actually get on there?

Man this sucks. I would be pissed, there goes about 5hrs of work.

You will be very happy when you finally get the X3 in there. Even happier once it's tuned.

yeah I have called the sponcer a few times this morning and he has not called back. I am starting to get a little annoyed. I am almost positive it is a stocker. no lope, not a lot of valvetrain noise and it doesn't rev like an aftermarket cam. well I guess I gotta put another day aside to put the real x3 in.

I am sure I did not put my stcoker back in because the cam I got had some burn marks on it that looked like it was getting starved for oil. my stocker looked new when it came out. I put the burnt looking one in. I am about ready to just pull my motor out of the car and tear the whole thing apart and, build it with parts I know are what they say they are.

Why is that??

How the heck can you degree the cam in without a cam card?

Comp Cam camshafts usually have the lobe numbers cut into one end of the cam. At least then you can verify the lobe number in their master catalog (available online).

FWIW - I ordered a custom cam and received no card and know at least two others where this happened also.

Yak ya have to tell us how much they hooked ya up with? If you settled for free next day air and a heartflet sorry you are on teh BIG losing end. Did you change your oil pump when ya did the cam swap. I have heard of pumps goin after swaps. And now you have 2 swaps so you are pushin ya luck. That happened with my bud. Chenged the cam twice cause he wanted a bgger cam and the pump **** the bed the second time. Had to tear it all down again. GL man

For one you don't have to touch the oil pump to swap cams, some people just choose that time to change oil pumps.

And even if you did, changing oil pumps isn't going to make it more likely to fail, so long as you are carefull with the O-ring.

I changed my oil pump last week when the 'new' cam went in. apparently the guy gave two cams to the sponcer, a stocker and an x3, turns out someone took the wrong cam and shipped me the stocker. it's been a little weird driving a stock cam on dual springs.

LGM does not provide a cam card with the G5X3. Without a cam card this makes things difficult to compare specs on cam card. LGM specifically says to put the G5X3 dot to dot. No degreeing is needed with this cam.

When parts don't look right, it's a good idea to call the sponsor first just to double check. I had a similar experience when I had a cam shipped directly to my mechanic. I saw the cam card after it was installed and discovered that it was not what I ordered.

You seem to know what you're doing....so too much luck is probably not required

Are you going to have it tuned and dynoed soon thereafter?
