Default heads/cam question

I have a x2 cam and I have a option to buy these:
TEA(total Engine Airflow) Stage 1.5 5.3L heads

CNC Port LS1 5.3 Stage 1.5
3.900” Combustion Chamber
Competition Multi-Angle Valve Job
Blend Valve Job
Mill Heads to Customer Specs
Flow Intake and Exhaust Ports
Heads Cleaned, Set Spring Heights, Assemble, Seat Pressure, Installed Height, and Coil Bind
Ferrea 2.020 Intake Valve
Stock LS1 1.550 Exhaust Valve (REV 1.57” Exhaust Valves are also available)
Standard TEA .650" Lift Dual Spring” (Comp 1.250” 921 and Comp 1.440” 978 are also available)
TEA Titanium Retainer
TEA Locators
GM Locks
GM Intake and Exhaust Valve Seals

my question is
1) will I have to flycut pistons or no (I really dont want to)
2) will the valves be ok the lift on the cam is a 608 lift so I dunno.

Thanks for the assist

How much were the heads milled? And what gaskets are you thinking about?

They should be ok. A friend of mine has the MS3 cam (.600+) lift and his heads are milled quite a bit and he has no problems. I dont think you'll have a prob but I would clay the valves quick just to make sure...only takes about 20 mins.

I like my TEAs

Use GM gaskets. Mine were $54 shipped 2nd day from sdpc2000.com

Chevrolet has a 10 day wait and they are $45 each, GMPartsDirect is $213 shipped...lol.

SDPC is great to deal with!

A contributing factor would be the similarities or extension of 5.7l and 5.3l heads, correct? Because I'm fairly certain 5.7l heads should clear very nicely.

No! .608 is too much for those heads. You won't have enough p/v clearance there. I have those heads with the F13 cam (.585 lift) and the clearance was only .0050 with compressed gasket. The guy who installed the whole shabang had the valves re-worked so he could see .0075 clearance. This is the right way to do it so you don't lose compression (11:1) on those heads - using a thicker gasket is the easy way but you'll lose compression and compression is power.

If you rev up the engine and have a slight float, you're DONE. Bent valves, bent pushrods, who knows what. And get new lifters! Not worth the risk using the stockers.

Seventy thousands is accurate for that combination I guess.
