Default 1.7s or 1.8s ? ? ?

i need to know what everyone's opinion is on which rocker would be the best for my set up. Im 17 and fairly inexperianced with ls1 valve trains. i plan to go with mti stage 2E heads that flow right 300cfm (right?), and the G1 camshaft (.588 intake, .575 exhaust). with these heads and cam what would be the best rocker arm: 1.7 or 1.8. If i could save a little cash and go with stock rockers that would be helpful, but yet i dont want to take a shortcut that will hurt performance. by the way i am building this car to do well on the street, not so much for the track. its also my daily. any advice is apreciated.

My understanding is that if you have a fast ramp cam you should stick with the 1.7 ratio (which is stock). Ask the tech guy from the cam manufacturer what he would recommend.

You should be able to stick with the stockers for now, but if your going to replace them I'd go with the 1.7s - thinking the 1.8s will be to big a ratio for that cam.

stay with 1.7s......gives you more options on what cam you use plus less stress on the lifter and pushrod..........

i dont really see any benefit with going over to 1.8s if you're getting a new cam anyway. 1.8s increase lift alot but put extra stress on the valvetrain, if you want more lift just get a bigger cam and stick with 1.7s. IMO, i'm sure some people will disagree

get a bigger cam if you want more lift. I don't think the 1.8s would be safe with the fast ramp cams, it is definitely not recommended with most shops.

if it blows your springs away..........

really the only way to know if you have a fast rate cam is to:

a) ask the manufacture of the cam
b) put it on a cam doctor and read the profile of the lobe
