SLP 250/246 .596"/.596" 114LSA?

July/August 2005 GMHTP magazine test drove SLP's 04 GTO. The GTO's engine was a 402ci with a verylarge cam with these specs 256/256@.050, 112lsa, 108 centerline. The car sounded very mean but was diffacult to drive stalling etc. So by switching to the milder cam 250/246@.050, 114lsa, 114centerline drivablity improved with no stalling (this cam really clicked in the 402ci GTO). 484HP/452TQ, power range 2500-6000.

ive been trying to decide what cam to get i have been thinking of the f13 and asa cams. i wonder ho this one would work with a 346ci ls1, it says its for a ls1/ls6/ls2, i onder if 918 springs would ork with this cam...

918s would have no problem with that cam. I daily drive mine and the lift is just a little more than that. There are guys on here running more lift than I am w/o problems too. In fact they used to rate these springs to .625" until Comp released their duals...kind of makes you wonder huh?

Of course they can handle it and people do run them on higher lift cams, but their longevity is going to be severely decreased when running them at their full handling capacity. If you don't want to be replacing springs every 10k or so, then you would probably want to go with a dual setup.

yeah for a ls1 based motor
its not going to be a good cam in a 346 cubed motor.

and a 256 should be tunable to drive fairly easily too.
