Will I be able to drive this to get a tune?
Just wondering if I install this cam if I'll be able to drive it to a local shop to get tuned?
I have a '98 Camaro Z28, A4. If you need a further list of mods, I'll be more than happy to list them.
The cam that's going in is the TR224-112 (224/224 .563/.563 112) Along with new pushrods, 918's, LS6 oil pump and LS2 timing chain.
Should I just get it installed then tow it over there?

PLEASE DO NOT DRIVE IT OVER THERE. It could result in some serious damage.
J/K that cam is so small that it will probably not even change the idle. I mean it will sound completly different, but it should drive near stock.

It won't. I drove my car with my cam untuned, for quite some time (well over a month). It would never stall w/ac off. Sometimes it would stall when the ac was on. It drove fine and my cam is quite a bit bigger than yours. The only thing that was a big deal was cold starts. I'd have to sit there for awhile and give it a little gas so it would idle, but after 30 seconds-1 minute it would be fine.

my cam is slightly smaller, but not by much and it has no tune, i drive it all the time, have been for a few years. runs perfectly smooth, no surging or anything. you'll be fine.

No Problem Whatsoever
The worst thing that could happen would be to for the SES light to come on due to the detection of misfire (rough idle). Some people have driven for months with that cam and without tuning. You might have to use your right foot on the accelerator a bit to keep from stalling when you come to a stop.
Tuning will clear up those issues.

The stock A4 idle speed is really low and that may be an issue. If it is, just open your TB set screw 1 or 2 turns and then drive over to the shop. That will give it extra air and probably not let it come back to a 550 idle (with 2 turns it will not come back to idle below 1000 and you might fight it a bit when braking). Ignore the codes. Once you get to the shop, put the set screw back to normal.

I appreciate the insight everyone in this thread has given.
(Too bad I'm an auto. )
