Default Comp Solid lifter problems???

Has anyone had any problems with these lifters? I have heard that one of the lifter holes must be epoxied closed to keep from having low oil pressure? I have a new 408 but used Comp solid lifters and now I am worried about this problem

Don't bother firing the engine....hopefully you haven't progressed too far yet because those lifters must come out. PM or call me at AFR and I can get you better up to speed.

The engine won't be fired until the spring. It is just a longblock...I'll give you a call

I switched to the Morels. The Comps pushed all the oil to the top of the motor and I had low oil pressure. Comp is redesigning an LS1 specific solid lifter right now that should be pretty good.

I just heard this to. Is it just the solid lifters or some hydrallic lifters as well.

Special thanks to 383LQ4SS for bringing this to my attention. I would have went about my business if it wasn't for him and I would have probably been very very disappointed. Thanks again

The problem is only with the Comp Solids. The oil holes are way too big.

TN94Z no problem. I spun a bearing on my 385 due to this issue. I do not want to see anyone else go through that. Thankfully Comp is a bunch of stand up people and they took good care of me. As a matter of fact if you call Comp you may be able to get a refund for the lifters without much hassle...or if the new ones are done...im sure they would swap them out.

The problem is that the one of the oil holes on the body of the lifter lines up directly with the oil galley. That will then feed the oil up through the pushrod and to the top of the motor -- which it should, but since its directly in the galley it will put way to much oil up in the valve covers.

Along the same lines, I run the Morel solid lifters and haven't had a single problem with them. Very nice pieces.
