Default hotcam

has anyone run this on just a cuout and lid...i really dont need a speed machine, and ive got other things i need to spend my money on (COLLEGE) but with stock manifolds and ypipe, will this make a decent amount of power like 25rwhp maybe 30? i just really want the lope and a little extra power, but dont want to get headers...all ive got is a lid w/ k&n filter, tr55's, ls6 manifold, and a cutout...

I dont know imo i would just get a tr224 or a f13 or something. Thos are perfectly streetable everyday driver cams and the f13 with and intake and few other mods can give you 50rwp-100rwp depending on other mods. from what ive searched if your going to put in a cam put one to make a nice difference and not harm your daily driving.youll probly put in the hotcam and realize it didnt do much and just want to go bigger. just my .02

I do like camaross said. I just took my Hotcam out last week and went to a tsp 224/228. Its actually more streetable than my hotcam was and has way more lift to it. Trust me.... do it right the first time. I was just like you before and time and time again people told me to go bigger. I wish I listened. You'll hear people saying how good the hotcam is and ther're right, its a good cam but just on an old grind. If I were to do it over again, I wouldn't even have considered it. Not because it aint a good cam, but just because this one or the TR224 is better.

its just at the moment, i cant afford to do a stall and headers...a cheap cam and ls6 springs will be nice for the time being, then next year when i get payed about 500 dollars more per month im going to look into getting a fuddle stall and a trex with all the bolt ons, but at the moment i just want a little lope...

If you have an auto then i'd just leave the stock cam in there, or go to a 2002+ LS6 cam. With the stock manifolds you won't see that much of a gain with the notcam. Also, it's a very rough idling cam and if you're an A4 with the stock converter you are going to have a lot of difficulties with tuning and idle speed. Aftermarket cams and the stock converter are typically a no-no.

Also, you aren't going to hear as much of the lope with the stock exhaust manifolds in place.
