Is it possible to build a 427 with a 4.120 bore and 4.00 stroke with out sleeving the iron blocks?

you don't sleeve iron blocks, they don't have sleeves. with an iron block bored out - 4.080 bore x 4.080 stroke or 4.060 bore and 4.125 stroke you will hit 427 cubic inches.

I've got a set of pistons to build a 427 with a 4.120 bore and 4" stroke, I was wondering if there was a way around buying a Darton block?

well you can buy an ls1 block and have it sleeved. or just sell the pistons and put the money into something else.

Not yet. World Products is coming out with a block, but who knows when it will be available. The c5r is the only other choice and that is 6k before any machine work.

I did it. I took a brand new SLP 402 shortblock, kept it a secret, (who from, and why?) and sold the rotating assembly. I then had the block punched out, and bam, I had a 427. I paid 300 out of pocket for the difference in pistons, and stuff.

There is a translation.

I'll be putting my 427 pistons up on the for sale side soon. Maybe I can find someone with a non running LS1 that would want to do some trading.

Some of you guys are just .... well.... talking nonsense.

Sonic test on an iron block is mandatory for .060 bore. You could go through a dozen before you find one that passes.
.080 is stupid unless you have 2 more in the trailer for the final passes. Those that use them are super max effort, track only setups.

Either sleeve or C5R, that is what is on the market right now.

There is a glimmer of hope for the future. The 6.2l is 4.065 bore stock in a aluminum block so it won't go much bigger (Maybe .020). The block will be produced in iron with a 4.065 base bore, this may produce the ability for a 4.120 final on the right block. Not sure when this block will be released in iron, but 08 model year should be safe bet.

Kurt, any more info on the 6.2l stuff? Is this another LS3 or something of that sorts, or what?
