PRC Stage 2.5 5.3 or Patriot LS6 Style Heads???
okay guys...the question is which would be better with the TSP MS3 CAM...don't know the flow specs for the 5.3 heads, but the ls6 flow:
72/65
140/124
202/160
244/196
280/220
291/226
304/229
as far as othe specs,
the ls6 heads have 2.02/1.57/64cc
the 5.3 heads have 2.04/1.585 don't know the cc
BTW...i'm getting forged pistons with valve reliefs, so clearance isn't an issue..
ur help is appreciated...thanx guys...

Personally I'd go with the ls6. Two reasons. The ls6's will flow better, and the 5.3's will possibly be a problem for the piston-valve clearance, especially with the larger valves. I'd definatly check clearances with the 5.3's. If the ls6's are not milled they should be fine.

BTW- Give Patriot a call, you dont have to run those valves sizes, you could have them swapped up.

I am guessing 777 made his post and then you added a edit of forged pistons.
I personially would use the PRC heads.
PP is always my first choice for those thing 100% on a low budget, but they are also near my last choice for those with 1300 or better to spend on heads.
PP and PRC both have great C/S.
I am guessing you have access to either head and wont have to wait for them to be made. If you have to order them I know PRC is a longer wait right now.
Also if your ordering check out the TEA 5.3 heads which are damn impressive.
AFR 205 is also great but your budget might not be that high.
I would vote PRC like I said as they are making some nice heads these days.

I think doing a little research on recent results from the boards might help. We're pretty caught up on heads currently so getting a set of PRC's out to you is no problem. We offer ls6 style heads also, but honestly for the cid we're talking the 5.3l heads are really hard to beat. I've flowed TONS of heads on our bench (even the new darts) & I would put the latest PRC head against anyone's cylinder head

Go with the Patriot ls6s. We just dynoed 4 cars over the weekend with out of the box stage 2s. A 98 corvette stock shortblock with our 238 cam, fast 90,LGlongtubes, made 473rwhp/425rwtq. A camaro with a F11 cam made 433/406, a 6.0 truck shortblock in a trans am with our 238 cam made 470/419. We also dynoed LT1DAVES new setup with a set of Patriot LS6s he "tweaked", and made 490/445rw(He made a shakedown and went 10.47@132 at 3450 raceweight, +500da) . All thes were with no shortbelt and on a VERY conservative dynojet (SAE). We will try to post up some graphs in the dyno section later!
Hats off to Gunnar and Patriot for great heads at astounding prices!

Jason I apoligize. I saw a thread 2-3 weeks ago saying that your taking a few extra hours per head to make sure their perfect and therefore your a bit backed up.
I am pretty up to date on the boards but noone can keep up with everything on here and still have time to sleep, eat, and ****, much less have a job.....
Anyways again I would gp PRC as I feel they will make better power then the PP heads.
Jason send me a set of PRC heads and I will test them out on my motor that I am using to test heads with.
I have 2 sets tested so far and am waiting track results for the 2nd set before I try something new.

Those are some good numbers. Keep up the good work!
We work hard to provide quality products at prices people can afford. We use new GM castings, REV valves, bronze guides, viton rubber seals, Super 7 machined locks, ti retainers and machined spring bases.
Yes, our heads are available to people on a budget, but this by no means, makes them a budget only head. As you can see by the parts we use in these heads, they are a quality product. This is being realized by many people who have enjoyed the results of these efforts. We flow every head that leaves the door. Proof of this flow is enclosed with the heads. We first focus on quality, then we work on cost. This practice will continue in the coming months with the release of our new LS series casting.

The heads will be available with either 2.02 or 2.04 intake valves & new 1.55 exhaust valves. The cylinder head will feature Comp Cams 918 valve springs & can be ordered decked to the customers specs!
We have also been working on a p/v friendly 5.3l cylinder head configuration that allows customers with camshafts like the Magic Stick to install cylinder heads without flycutting
I'll post some 1.5S head flow #'s later today, but they flow about 248cfm @.400 & just over 300cfm @ .600"
These cylinder heads will be on intro special until the 14th for $1100 outright!!!

Graph's?
Those are silly numbers, and 3 of the highest PP dyno numbers I have ever seen.
How much is that shortbelt adding?

By no shortbelt, he meant the cars all had factory length belts installed(not bypassing the ps).

Thanks for getting them to me in time for the race
We just did a cam swap this week (more N20 friendly)and dynoed the car today.
Picked up 10 hp on the motor and 30 across the board on the spray Thanks again!
