how much power on stock alum. block
just curious, how much power can be had on a "stock block" assuming forged internals, better fastners, etc.? to restate the question, what will the factory ls1 block its self hold before breaking/failure?

is $1000 about the going price for an ls2 bare short block?
how much power could an ls2 block see......if built right of course?
what would i need, in theory, to put down over 1,000 wheel hp and still use an aluminum block?

Yes, it does. Running solid mounts with that much power puts too much stress on a bad location on the block, so I've read. The really high HP guys who run aluminum have had problems with cracking jackets and distorting bores. The only cure I've read about for this problem is running a motor plate and mid plate setup. A bottom end girdle would no doubt help as well.
Personally, I'm going with the iron block for my FI setup. With motor plates.
