I'm using the very reliable Comp 921 springs. They were highly recommended by AFR and Thunder Racing to work best with Comp's LSK lobes. Because of the superior materials used in the 921s, the spring life is supposed to be very good.

Default FAST intake modifications

Hi Patrick,

congrats to your strong running engine.

In the next weeks I am adding AFR 205, LG G5X-E cam, Comp 921 springs, LG headers with cats and a FAST90 intake to my C6 (LS2). Stock exhaust. I am just waiting for the heads from LG at the moment.

Could you or Tony give me an idea of the mods you did to the FAST intake? Did you just remove the transitions in the runners or actually port the intake?

Thanks,
Bernd

Bernd, Tony did what is known as "velocity porting" to the intake manifold. He removed material in the places known to slow down the airspeed entering the cylinder head. The runners are the items he works hardest on as the plenum area is quite generous and needs little porting.

Patrick,
Do you think you need more gear(3.73-4.11) than the quiet OEM 3.42?

Also, after you removed your MAF. What did you do with the leftover wiring connecter? Clipped off or what?

Keith, I'm going to a 12 bolt with 4.10 gears sometime in the future. As far as the MAF connector goes, it's just hanging loose, tucked behind some other wires. I can plug the MAF back in if it was ever required (heaven forbid!).

There's never enough power and then there is the new 500hp ZO6.

Yep

Nope

BTW nice numbers.

Patrick,
I understood the term "velocity tuning" in the sense of adding material to a runner to get higher airspeed. If you remove material, you increase the area, get les pressure differential and slow down the flow, or not?

Do you have pics of the manifold or am I asking for too much (tuner secret)?

If the transition from manifold to head is not smooth or even, you can pick up velocity by removing material to better match the ports. But what Tony does goes far beyond mere port matching. I would love to tell you and show you pictures, but I've been sworn to secrecy. All I can do is give you assurance that the results are real and repeatable.

I think a 3.90 gear would be perfect. Strange offers a 3.90 ratio with their 12 bolt.

Eliminating the drag from the water pump and power steering made more of a difference than ditching the cats and y-pipe. In my race setup, adding open headers with extensions gained me 6 rwhp and 10 rwtq. EWP and short belt gained me 10 rwhp and 6 rwtq.
