Amsoil > * I've tried all oils that were recommended thus far. M1 0w40, German Castrol 0w30, and finally got to Amsoil 5w30 yesterday.
All I can say is that my piston slap has disappeared. No more embarassing tapping sound in the parking garage.

Very good to hear. This and the fact that the price is very competitive to M1, you cannot get better.
love my amsoil, tried the beloved GC oil last month and only left it in there for a week becuase i noticed a piston slap, switched back to my amsoil and engine is smooth and quite.

I tried Royal Purple 10W30 and at first it was louder than the Pennzoil 10W30 dino oil it replaced. After a few days though it quieted down to where the dino oil was. My guess is that it freed the rings up a bit. I will have to try the Amsoil however.
I found the Castrol 0W30 synthetic was loud as hell in my car.

we sell amsoil here at the yamaha dealership that i work and i have switched all my cars/bikes/atvs over to amsoil and its honestly the best oil ive ever used.. i was a mobile 1 guy before but now its all amsoil.. i also lost all piston noise after the swap its awesome stuff!
What filter are you supposed to run with the amsoil? Id like to try some 5w-30 in my car (no pistonm slap but always willing to put in better fluids) but not sure what filter to use. Does amsoil offer their own filter and if so what is the part number on their website?

Also, you all might want to take a look at the new air filter Amsoil is offering, the Ea Air Filter. Its a resuable filter like a K&N/Holley, except it is a dry filter, so no messy oiling or "recharging".

Amsoil is good stuff,I run it in everything. My father noticed I used it and to try it out he replaced all the fluids in his modded harley softail with amsoil, loved it, became a dealer and now uses it in all his heavy use work trucks with good results.
I use 10w30 for turbocharged engines lol, but XL 5w30 would work just as well. I've never bothered to look into how thick their 5w30 is compared to the notoriously thin M1.
