over heating ! ? help !
Ok this might should be in the hybrid area, but I need some serious help. I am STUMPED.
I have an ls1 in an s-10. I have two 14 " jegs fans as pushers ( perma cool 2950 cmf ( part number 777-19114 ) ) on a 1.25 inch thick griffin radiator ( jegs number 475-155222 ).
One fan kicks on at about 210 and the other at 220, but the temp just keeps rising. I shut it off just before 260. The water pump is the original ls1 and has not been messed with . Is it possible I have my hoses backwards ? I have the bottom radiator hose running into just below the throttle body intake and the upper radiator hose comming from where the heater hoses run ! Is this the right flow direction ?
Any help appreciated.

I just got the engine working the other day, I was happy they were comming on !
I now have the bottom radiator going to the upper engine coolant line and the one near the heater hoses going in the top of the radiator. But still over heating ! DAmNit man
Is this setup just not enough for this type of engine ?

OK ! Now I am frustrated.
I changed the thermostat with a 189 degree thermostat, and then turned the engine on and let idle. . . . still over heated.
I let the motor cool and then I " gutted" the thermostat and just opened it up. . . . turned the engine on and it still over heated.
I let the engine cool, and then turned back on the engine. As it started to warm up, I took off a radiaor hose that runs from the heater hose "bottom" side of the engine. I disconnected it right at the top of the radiator. There was no fluid pumping either out of the hose or the radiator where I disconnected it from ! ! ! ! ! SHOULDNT SOMETHING BE PUMPING AT THIS POINT WITH THE THERMOSTAT WIDE OPEN ? How the hell does a stock pump not pump at all ! ?

The system is full of fluid and " filled properly" . I just removed the water pump from the engine and there seems to be NOTHING WRONG with it.
Does anyone know if the water pump is supposed to be spinning clockwise or counter clockwise when facing the engine from under the hood ? When I took the pump apart, it seemed like the pump would spin clockwise when facing the water pump, but the belt pulls it counter clockwise ! Do I have the belt on backwards somehow ?

The serpentine belt routes under the water pump pulley. The top rad hose goes to water pump and the bottom rad hose goes to the thermostat housing. The 2 smaller hoses you mentioned right under the radiator cap sounds like you have them installed correctly. Lower hose to TB. etc. Clockwise rotation. Set your fan of/off temps to lower temps via PCM. You may have air in the system. Are all of these parts used? Known working parts? Is this the first time firing the engine after transplant?

The only thing that I can think of is this:
If the water pump -to- heater outlet and inlet are not connected correctly the thermostat will not open and it will over heat. If you are not using a heater you cannot simply blank off the inlet and outlet.
This does not, of course, explain why it is not flowing coolant without the thermostat in!

Well, turned out to be 2 things combined !
There was still air in the system that I couldnt get to circulate out until the engine heated up one GOOD time. Then the radiator finally opened up and I could add more water.
AND
My heater lines where circulating the fluid instead of the radiator. The heater lines can be blocked off, but not connected in a loop, or the fluid will just circulate there.
THANKS ALOT FOR ALL THE HELP.
