Default What power will the LS6 cam make me?

Bought an LS6 cam, springs and retainers included, from what I read I need to get some longer pushrods, anything else??My main question is how much rwhp will I gain off of this, and how much higher can I spin my motor with this cam..I also have a powerdyne(yes..flame on) going on, and it doesn't like high rpms from the research I have done also...but yea, any opinions...thanks guys

LS6 cam will give you some solid gains from 4000 rpm and up. Stock length 7.40" pushrods are fine for unmilled stock heads, but spend the extra money and get some chrome moly pushrods. The LS6 cam makes very little overlap so it's a good candidate for a blower.

How high will I be able to spin the motor once this is in...btw, on a side note, thats some damn impressive power for an H/C car

The LS6 cam will pull strongly to 6500 rpm. Just make sure your springs are up task.

Default Pushrods

Here are the correct pushrod lenghths depending on your setup.
LS6 cams have smaller base circle....pushrod lengths as follow...

If you are doing:

LS1 heads/valves + LS6 cam > 7.425 aftermarket
LS6 heads/valves + LS6 cam > stock or 7.40 aftermarket
LS6 heads/valves + Ls1 cam > 7.375 aftermarket

Thanks to PREDATOR-Z for this little chart

I installed an 02 LS6 cam in my car when it had 4K miles on it.
Mods consisted of Lid, Ported TB, ASP, LS6 cam & valvesprings, JH Longtubes & ORY thru SLP DD muffler, Rapid Motorsports Dynotune 376rwhp @ 361rwtq - Stock 241 heads Used 02 LS6 valvesprings & retainers stock pushrods

Car sounded stock and drove like stock even untuned. The tune did add power and made the car feel better throughout the powerband. I liked the cam but was disappointed in the power from idle to 4500rpms. The setup did not hit 350rwtq until 4300rpms! My current setup hits 350rwtq at 3000rpms. It did pull pretty hard from 5Krpms to 6500rpms.

good deal, thanks, with the blower goin on about a week after the cam, im not really worried about the power so much as how high the rpms will go and the pushrod length, hopefully ill be netting somewhere around 450+ at the rear

i was in the same boat as you.

i was reeally looking for a cam that sounded like stock at idle, got good fuel economy and emission safe.

the ls6 was my top chioce. but as i started doing more and more research i realixed that there are other cams out there like the ls6, but yeild more power. the ls6 cam only comes alive around 4-4.5k rpm. so i started to look into some other cams. i chose the tsp 220 cam. it sounds great at idle.. barely noticeable and it just screams off the line. i got better fuel economy with this cam and i passed emmssions. now that i have installed headers. i can sorta hear the cam a bit more at idle.

if i were to do it again. i honestly would have went with a bigger cam. like a 224 on a 114. i thought i wanted a cam that was as sleeper as they get. but ****, i drive a camaro SS... this car is anyything but a sleeper! i want a cam that has a more noticebale idle. ive heard the 224 jus recently and it sounds real nice at idle. it doesnt lope too hard but its not non-existent either. and drivebality is great. this cam is a very popular cam among ls1 owners and it wont dissapoint.

my advice would be to research a bit more before you install it. look at teh cam you want and go one step bigger. cause you will always long for more power.

good luck!

that sounds really good, i have headers and ory, i really don't want the idle to change, im really going for the sound of no more than a bolt on car, and just have a lil bite to it when i go..another reason i am gettin the cam, is that i got a great deal on it, i am saving money b/c i have to buy some flex a lite fans before the blower can go in, thats all im lacking, thanks for you reply amit and the soundclips you provided
