Ticking
After a recent header and exhaust install, I have noticed a ticking in the drivers side of the car. Under the hood, all you can hear is the fuel injectors. If you get beside the front left tire, you can hear it if you put your ear near the tire, and of course under where the left side header is. Engine and exhaust checked for leaks and none have been found. Seems to be more prevelent when its cold. Could this be a bad lifter or a bad valve?
Thanks for any input

Some light ticking is to be expected, I had the same thing. Your headers are not anywhere is thick is the stock exhaust manifold was, therefore you get some more valvetrain noise by putting them on.
The AIR "ticking" is usually only noticeable when driving, not at idle or just reving it, and yes, that will be fixed.
When I put my cam and springs in, the "ticking" through the headers got even more exaggerated due to my use of Comp 918 springs.
A car just won't sound stock once you start ******* with it

Anyone else? The ticking is definitely noticeably loud, you dont' have to put your head under the car to hear it. It is most noticeable at idle and the speed of the ticking quickens as the rpm's go up. At about 2500 rpm's you can no longer hear the ticking, most likely due to the loudness of the car.

All the plugs and wires were fine. I checked the exhaust and even tightened the flanges at the header and Y-pipe connect. the noise does subside as the engine comes up to operating temp. When I drive the only time i hear it is when another car pulls up next to me and i hear the sound bounce.
Otherwise she runs like a scalded dog.

I know what you guys mean, as mine made that noise, you wouldnt hear it when driving unless you were next to another car or a jersey barrier or something that the sound could reflect off. The plugs tightened solved mine. However, could be valvetrain noise, exhaust leak, etc...Hard to tell with LT's. Mine is quiet now but I have other friends with longtubes that have much more noise than me. Usually its either egr, air check valves, loose plugs, or an exhaust leak that causes that ticking noise. If those all check out and the car runs fine i wouldnt worry about it. As a couple of the guys hav said wait to you get a good sized cam in there, you will def hear more valvetrain noise. Good luck though and again if it isnt effecting performance and no ses lighst then I wouldnt worry.
