Taller deck and more stroke is no fun. I want more bore damn it. Who in the hell wants an LS1 with the manorisms of a BBC? Thats what you would end up with a mega stroke, tall deck engine.

Who makes these blocks if you dont mind saying? Darton is one such company right?

Also - They've built a 500inch small block AMC, Im pretty sure it was in HotRod, I'll see if I have the article somewhere in the house. Dont know what that bore and stroke combo was off the top of my head.

With a 4.4" bore spacing and a 9.8" deck height, an iron LSx could go to almost 500 cubes.

There are 4.25" bore GEN1 SBC's out there and as you might know the LSx has the same bore spacing. With that deck height you might fit in a 4.25" crank.

Presto-chango - 482"

the 500ci setup is in the developement stage and uses a LS2 block, Brad has seen the early stage of the setup with his own eyes. in some way they are extending the deck of the block and using a 4.5" stroke crank. lunati internals are being considered. that is about all I know for now.

update:

looks like they will have to make a intake spacer and it will be a taller deck... and lunati has agreed to make the crank (4.25)

There were some rumors a while back about this.
It was going to be accomplished by using a custom built block in the caliper of the C5R block strengthwise. I haven't heard anything else in over 3-4 months now. So the project may have died or at the very least been put on the back burner due to low demand. Who knows.
If it were to happen that would be one serious engine.

The stroke that would have to come with the small blcok to bring it to that much ci, would be way to long IMO.......it would wobble at the top!

I saw the block with intake spacers in ERL's booth at Sema. They are selling the assembled shortblock 500ci motor with Lunati internals for something like $12,500. Mallet has bought a few to supercharge.
