who is running 5w40 amsoil
Anyone using this 5w40 synthetic Amsoil ? I have heard it is pretty good stuff. I can buy the Mobil 1 anywhere. This stuff I have to order. I have good size cam and head work in my 01 WS6 with a 4000 stall and 3:73.

my dads running some type of amsoil in his new turbodiesel silverado, he loves it. oil changes are once a year no matter how many miles you drive, and the oil is excellent. They use the same stuff for semi's and never change the oil for over 400k miles.

I switched from the K&N to the long amsoil filter. It's length is perfect and just a tad lower than the bottom of the oil pan.
The "European" part of the name is in reference to the additive package I believe. Europe has more stringent guidelines for oil longevity and quality, or so I'm told. Take it with a grain of salt.
I get it from a local guy in our Northwest Regional section. He's a dealer. I can give you his name and you can PM him you'd like. It usually arrives at your door in 2-3 days after you order.
He'll be able to answer your questions better than I can.

Amsoil doesn't say you can go one year and unlimited mileage, for most of their oils they say one year or 25,000 miles, with the exception of their Series 3000 which is one year or 35k, and their XL line which is 7500 miles.

The Amsoil is heavier then the GC. That's why you have more pressure then GC. It doesn't mean it's a better oil. If I put Valvoline 20W50 in my car, the same would happen as would quiet down some of the piston slap.

Not to hijack the thread, but Patman (or anyone) how do you rate the current high quality/performance filters?? I know you once had a problem with the Mobil 1 filter at higher revs? How do the Amsoil SDFs stand up/compare?
