Hotcam, ASA cam . ..
Ok so Im going to pick one of these, most likely the asa cam. Ive wanted it for ever, just never got around to getting it. So what do you think I should replace on the car to match up with one of these cams? I've already decided Im going to stick with one of these two due to there low lift and low wear, maitnence characteristics. My cars got just at 115 on the clock all stock internals. I was thinking obviously springs, oil pump and timing chain. I'll probably throw on a pulley while I'm in there too. Anything else critical I should think about swapping out? Thanks guys . ..
Cliff notes : High mileage cam swap, what should I be worried about changing?

sounds good to me. it really depends on what kind of shape your motors is in. i have 125k and i am going to be putting the cam in my sig in with the same parts you said. springs, ls2 chain. dont think i am going to do the oil pump. i have 40psi warm at idle. i have heard that the earlier pumps are not good but mine is working fine. its really up to you.

Yep, my oil pump was fine but I replaced it anyway.....pretty cheap insurance since you're in there already. I'd definitely do the pulley too. You'll like the asa cam. It's the most wicked sounding idle and makes great power under the curve....and really kicks you in the *** around 4k rpm.

IMO replace the oil pump for sure. If you add a dbl roller timing set to the mix, the old ASP underdrive pulleys don't fit. Call them & ask first. Besides the springs, I'd do the rocker arms & pushrods too. They tend to break at hi rpms. Either cam is capable of turning 6800rpm. And I picked up 10hp from roller rocker arms.
Now, about the cam. What are you going to do with the car? The ASA is a killer top end cam, like for road racing. The Hot Cam is more for drag racing (my opinions & experiences here) Both have a sweet idle & make great power!!! (they sound nasty but may require tuning to make work....& do not play well with automatics)

Thanks guys, as for the cam selection I guess I may just go with the hotcam after all. I have seen some killer numbers out of that thing without any fear of reliability. Can you really turn these to 6800 with LS6 springs? Honestly I kinda just wanted to try the asa cam for ***** since it will sound real nasty on that 110.

ive got the hotcam waiting to go in. as for the tune, im going to change the idle and shift points and leave it as is untill i can get a real tune, but im going to use it with nitrous and see how it goes. for 200 bucks, i got the hotcam and brand new ls6 springs, thats unbeatable...

If it's between the hotcam & asa cam, definitely go with the asa. I was in the same boat as you a year ago and am glad I chose the asa over the hotcam. After tuning it myself w/HPTuners it drives like stock......minus the massive thumping at idle! It even ran on it's own with the stock tune. The '02 & up ls6 springs will be fine. I have them in mine and have the rev limiter set at 6800, shifts at 6400.

hotcam is a nice cam....I made 377/374 at the wheels with it. I have a bigger cam now and have not been impressed. Yeah I made more peak power but I lost big on the torque plus the hotcam made over 300 pounds of tq in my car from 2300 rpms up to 6800

See, I have read so many posts just like that, that have influenced me to use this cam. Some of us with dd's just want a little extra reliable power and I can't or don't even have the time or patience to worry about springs or other issues with high lift cams. I need good old realiablility! I think my only real issue will be getting this sucker to idle good, because I sit in stop and go traffic both ways every day!
