I would do that but I dont want to get into degreeing the cam. I just want to turn it to the correct line and be done.

I used the offset bushing kit. Its very simple to install if you have access to a drill press and the correct size drill bit. Be carefull not to drill completely through top cam sprocket.

If you discover that your 224 cam is dead on are you wanting to retard or advance the cam?

Read ahead and you will see that he ended up not doing it that way. He used the cloyes adjustable cam sprocket.

Keith, I got the Cloyes adjustable top sprocket 3 cams ago. I used it to dial in my TRak cam, my AFR 234/238 114 cam and my current 223/227 110LSA cam. Interestingly, I had to back the cam up -2 degrees for it to be in at 110ICL. Had I just lined up the dots, the cam would have been installed at 108...which was not where I needed it.

Damn, that is the cheapest adjustable set that I have seen. Unfortunately it looks like the only way to move the cam timing is by using the crank sprocket. Doesn't look like the cam sprocket has any adjustment to it. I am going to measure the depth and diameter and anything else that I can measure in order to see if I can avoid pulling my oil pump out. I will advise.

I don't understand why you guys don't check out the infinitely adjustable Comp set. It is adjustable from the cam sprocket to however many degrees you want. A few years ago I only paid $100+. A friend of mine who is a master GM tech was very impressed with it. He bought a Cloyes earlier and thought he got fkd.

2 reasons.

1) I belive that the Comp set is double roller and therefore there is no chance of compatibility to my crank sprocket.

2) I dont believe that it is marked for the timing degree adjustment therefore requiring you to have degree the cam with a degree wheel (which I dont want to get into).

Please correct me if I am wrong.

It is positively single roller and it also shows dot to dot. From there you can fine tune as you want, advance or retard. It is not necessary to degree but advisable. Call Comp or any sponsor that carries Comp cams, it's really a no brainer.
