Default Lope or Dope?

I can't decide if I want to go with a NX MAF or similar kit, or do a cam, probably along the lines of 224/228 or 224/230, 226/226 etc. Car will have long tubes and a new clutch put on at the same shop visit as whichever one of these I am going to go with (East Side). I might give Scotty a call and see what his opinions/experiences have been, but what school of speed should I be spending my hard earned cash on: Lope or Dope?

The more I research on the two the more I can't seem to decide.

IMO it depend on the intended use of your Z28. If you want to go to the track, or if you want a silent sleeper with a stock sound for occasionnal street races, then go with the nitrous. But for a daily driver, I would go with the cam. No bottle to refill, power always there, killer intimidating sound.

Or you can go with PREDATOR-Z's advice and do both. Match a cam with your nitrous setup, then you'll be sure of the result and you will no longer ask yourself if you should have done this the other way!

Both.. hmmm... Without having to drop $$$ immediately on a forged block, I'm assuming anything under the 230/230 duration paired to a 125 shot should hold up well?

I run a 230/232 paired to a 150 shot, and LOVE it .

If just one I would vote for a Cam. Probably since we have a cammed car, and the wife will not allow me to put any juice on it...

I would go with the cam. And when you get used to the cam, you can add the dope.

That's the cam I would recommend on stock heads with juice in mind for future reference.

This just gets more and more insane. Thinking about.. just a cam, than add heads, than nitrous, than its the rear end and block.. its like standing in a cold shower tearing up hundred dollar bills... but with a HOT woman there with ya, making it all worthwhile somehow..

Get a cam first. I just got my F11 in the mail.

228/230 576/591 112+4.

Gonna go with 100 dry shot when i can afford injectors and a new clutch.

Seems like most people are for both (obviously) but also in favor of doing a cam first. Im going to give East Side a call (I think they're probably gone now for the holidays) and talk to Scotty and get his input as well.

My reasoning for getting the cam first.

You get power all the time, instead of when you hit the switch
You can get the tuning out of the way and you can upgrade your injectors while you're in there and tune it for the bigger injectors.
Lopey idle(that's a plus for me, not for all)
Since you got the headers, the cam will make even more power. Headers and cam go hand in hand.
did i say lopey idle?

She is just as car savvy as I am, she would instantly see an install (and I would not have the time to do one she would not see on a cursory inspection)...

Oh well.

Cam then dope, in that order. I like to have a little bit of power around town all the time.
