yea it really depends on how much more you abuse it with the cam because of how well she runs. but no way it shortens the "life of the engine" you will have to swap valve spings more often and check the valvetrain more often as well.

Valvesprings shouldnt even be too much an issue. The only thing that will hurt a motor with a cam swap is how often the pedal hits the floor because of an increase in HP.

Radical cams will induce more wear on the engine. Any time you increase hp there is more stress being put to the motor/valvetrain. The biggest reason a cam would damage the motor is the fact that most people will be spinning the motor higher and more often.

I have 160k on my Z with a cam, the most important thing to know and remeber is keep the motor maintained, make sure whoever does performance work on your motor actually know what there doing, ask question and make sure all the other parts will work in harmany with your new mod. A radical its self isn't going to kill the motor, but if your going to be jumping on the pedal alot then you are going to want to make sure the your valvetrain is staying in tact, every time you change the oil, check the oil for any metal shavings or foreign objects.

Id do a new oil pump, timing set/chain some matching behive springs and light valve gear (Titanium) if possible. Then all should be well as long as the engine is generally sound

Yeah, those would all be good things to do. Go for it!

i would love a stroker but they are expensive kits ive seen some running for like 4200..not in my wallet...Yall think I should run a TR22 114, or a TR22 112. Something not to drastic that would take it easy on my engine, and has a nice lopey sound?

Get the cam, and get one that you won't have to spin it past 6200rpms. Like mine. It probabyl will peak around 6,000rpms. Either way I won't be shifting much if any past 6000.

If the lift on the cam is like .560 can i get away with the LS6 spring with the .570 lift limit? Also is a LS1 Hot Cam a good aggressive street cam, or waste of money I have lots of miles on my engine and dont want to be spinning past 5800 with increased power cause I dont know how well my ole engine will hold up...enlighten me please

There are better choices out there that will work better performance wise. You could probably go all the way up to 230 and not have any kind of problems. The hot cam still sounds like a monster though, i love it!

I had some stock lifters go bad on me at 88K miles. I would think about replacing them. I have a feeling my cam contributed to their demise.

My cam is only a 224/224 dur. with .576/.576 lift cut on a 112, similar to the TR224, my buddy who works at a speed shop had crane cams grind it for him. Its a very nice cam. I only have 25k on my car, the cam went in at 22k. I dont spin my much past 6300rpms and my redline is 6500rpms. I did a katech oil pump, and a double roller timing chain, and some crane valve springs and some titanium retainers. You also might want to purchase some new valve locks also if you do it. Trust me once you have a cam you will love the car even more, more fun to drive!!!
peace rob

Get the cam kit from SDPC www.sdpc2000.com . Then when you get the exhaust it will be that much better in the future! you might see abut 20rwhp out of the hotcam with a few supporting mods, but exhaust is gonna be the must have eventually if you are looking to get something out of that thing.
