Default G5X2 H/C on A4 car?

Hey everyone. I have all my supporting mods done and have enough money for the cam and valvetrain I want. I have my SLP cai/lid, LS6 intake (might upgrade to the TPiS version), ASP pulley, Pacesetter LT's/ORY, Corsa catback, 3800 stall, and 3.73's. I also have about 150-175# of weight reduction. I want a G5X2...I've decided, and I eventually want to get heads too for more torque and power. I was thinking of either going stealth and porting my stock heads so it all looks stock from under the hood, or going with the Dart 205's or 225's. How would a G5X2 H/C engine be with a 3800 stall/3.73 A4? Any comments/opinions/advice? Please let me know.

Would be a beast! I say go for it, and go with some aftermarket heads if funds allow it. Do it once, do it the best

Like I said, I really want some Dart heads. Maybe the 225's with a little hand finishing. I think those would be badass.

i had the x2 cam,it was great. but,the x3 cam is better. why do you want dart heads? who on this site has them to prove how good they are? i don't know of anyone.what reaserch have you done to get this info? i do know my AFR205 heads picked up 47hp OVER another ported head that was on my car. my car runs near 10's all motor stock weight(and i still don't have all the boltons yet) and close to 9's on the juce.

This is more or less the set up I have on my car but a 3500 stall and my heads are not dart, I still have one free restall and when I have the tranny out next I will probably have it stalled a little higher. I would not change anything I have done but instead of doing it a piece at a time I would do it all at once. Hope this helps

I have a blast with mine, but then again I have a 4200 stall. I put down 417rwhp 403rwtq. Traction sucks and I need a 12 bolt. Other than that my car runs like a bat out of HELL. My car looks completely stock, stock hood, stock 16" wheels, dirty engine bay. Until someone says turn it on then I get the OH **** look.

Do you have any pics?

I'm still looking at heads...I just don't want to spend the bank for AFR's as much as I want them.

I just had my car tuned at Next Level performance in Orlando and couldn't be happier, Car pulls really hard through 6500rpm. Car put down 392 to the wheels, stock heads...
I love the G5X3 on 114.
AFR's are next on my list.

I think the 225's will be to big for that cam and a stock cube motor. I think Tony Mamo did a test on his 383 and sayed that he liked the results of the 205's on that more than the 225's. Anything bigger and thats were the 225's shine.
I asked Tony Mamo and Louis at LG which heads would be better suited for my stock cube motoer and G5X4 cam and both sayed the 205's, with a good amount of milling on them to bump up the compression.

I already decided on the G5X2, it's just more what I want, it has a little more low end, and plus I already got a killer deal on one, so that helps. The AFR heads, I really don't have the $$$ for now. I'm more speculating at the time being, all I know is I don't want to spend a fortune on heads. I want a set that will flow well, make good power, and something that is milled so I can raise my compression a bit. I was thinking some TEA's maybe, or Absolute Speed, maybe a set of nice 5.3's. AFR's make good power but I don't have the money for them. As far as the install, yes, I am planning to do that myself.

I think you will be happy no matter what heads you pick

Just be sure to check PTV, and when that time comes I will help you make sure it is all good to go if you are unsure what will fit/wont fit/needs flycutting.

My preference is the AFR 205s, but stock castings ported by a reputable porter can go a long way as well.

We are doing extensive head testing with ET, RHS, DART and a few others. I hope to report on those sometime after the new year

Louis

Check out Patriot heads...they are priced very reasonably.
What size stall you got to match the cam?

Glad to hear you will be doing the swap yourself as it will save you a lot of money.
