Those with a 224/224 cam, are you happy?

Yea, I have the TR224, 224/224-114. I'm planning on going larger soon though. It's a nice overall cam, gives good low-end but you can still tell a difference up high. It'll pass emissions if you have to worry about them, it's real tame and is good for a daily driver, I just personally like more lope and kick. I still get good mileage with mine too. If your looking for more power but with good idle and mileage then this is a good cam but if your looking for lope and a real kick in the ***, then I'd look a little larger.

I'm another fan of the TR224 112LSA. My car spends 90% of it's time on the stret, not the track. The 224 is perfect for this. Awsome power from 2500RPM +. It seems to peak around 6200......but who the hell is revving past that REGULARILY on the street? At idle it gives a lope, but not obnoxious.....just enough to scare the ricer crowd (and Mustangs).
BTW, w/ intake, Blowmaster exhaust ( I have a cutout now to counteract that mistake
), LT's, cats, and mail order tuning I put down 374RWHP and 363RWTRQ.

425rwhp, I'm happy with the setup.

I have a comp 224/.581 and CHS ported 5.7L heads.
It's a great cam for a car you actually drive a lot, no muss and no fuss. Any power shortage relative to a larger cam can be made up by Nauce at the track...

I see that many of the people running The Comp 224/224 have either ordered it with some advance ground into the cam , or are setting it up with 2-4 degress of advance. Does this give the best performance for the street?

I'm running the TR-224 112 cam way over here in Australia, with .020" decked off the heads and through an M6 and stock 3.46 gears it has trapped 115.4mph, remembering our cars are at about 3600-3700lb, im very happy with that.

got a comp 224/581/112+4 xer here. pulled 365rwhp/355tq on the dynojet w/ kooks, pulley, and a tune.
lots of peer pressure to go big at the time - but im content - mainly because of excellent street manners and low end tq.
i do need more tho - so im thinking about heads.
more suggestions on heads for the 224 daily driver please. how would the dart 205s be ?

I've been very happy with my TR224. I DD the car quite a bit and it drives 95% like the stocker after a good tune. I love it's power curve, especially when a set of heads are added in the mix. When choosing heads for this style cam IMO, you want a small port with strong midrange .300-500 lift numbers. .600 numbers and this cam don't mean a whole lot. My Patriot's seem to be working ok for a 1K set of heads. If I could do it over again I would have AFR 205's around 11.-1 with a good quench setup. My setup peaks at 6100rpms and holds relatively flat to 6400 where it starts to nose off after.

I would say go at least 232ish. F13 or similar. The 224 is basically a step above stock. But then again it depends on your goals and etc. You should research other options, you don't want to be saying " I wish I had went bigger ". All this spoken from a current 224 owner and yes I am spraying it more and more till it pops and then I will go bigger. Good luck man.

I have the a 224/224 .565 lift on a 113. The car dynoed 357h.p. and 345tq to the rear wheels with a unlocked converter, cam only. I like this cam since my car is mostly a street car. I have just added a set of PRC heads to the mix and a LS6 intake.
