Joel,
M3 is a sweet car. Just don't like it waking up my kid at night.
Kid was out with his buddies and a video camera the other day, doing high speed flybies. Sequential shifter does sound neat. His friends were like "WOW, that's the wickedest, most raw thing I've ever heard!!!".
Back on topic now, internals forum, so let's keep it technical.

I raw muscle world, American cars dominate. OR $$$ to power, American cars dominate, but given enough greens, there are machines that boggle the mind all over the world.

I know flow #'s don't paint a total picture of what a head can do. 205's would make good velocity. 62cc is good for compression also,
DART 205s
62cc chamber
2.02/1.60 valves
intake flow:
.300 190
.400 239
.500 272
.600 289
Compared to AFR 205's
Compared to the TEA 1 5.7's (which use stock valves), don't know the volume though. Milled to 59cc they even provide more PTV clearance than 5.3's.
.100 73.5
.200 144.4
.300 209.7
.400 252.3
.500 283.4
.550 296.1
.600 294.2
I believe the TEA's are still about 1 grand, assembled, milled. The website has an old price number.
Thanks for the suggestion. I can't wait to see installed Dart #'s pop up on these boards to see what they can do.

From what i have heard Darts are supposed to be the next great set of heads. If i had the money right now for a head and cam package though i would get the package from TSP that comes with your selection of a cam and AFR 205 heads.

Darts aren't impressing me by what I've been reading.
AFR's too much $$$ for my budget, and as you can see from my flow comparo above, the simple ol' stock valved TEA 5.7s are flowing damn healthy (and outflowing the AFR's) within the range I need them too.

How much milling does it take to get a 5.7 head to 59ccs? I'm guessing the valve sizing or valve head thickness is what gives it the extra p/v clearance over the 5.3s? Just curious. Maybe I'll have my stockers ported or do them myself. I'm definitely interested in budget setups also.

Yep...you are right. I just had mine ported and received them back last week. They flow numbers very close to those shown above (with LS6 valves). I'm also using them in my roadrace package. Hopefully they will compliment my new cam, QTP HVMC's (on order), and injectors well!

[QUOTE=Teutonic Speedracer] Nice. Very light valvetrain (what springs did you go with?). Let us know how the heads perform. Also, aren't the sodium valves slightly longer than stock?

But if your going for budget i am sure you can find a asa cam used for real cheap. Along with other cams that could be great for RR. But i am sure you already know that.
I was reading in your post over in the RR section... if your looking for a car that is inexpensive and could have great potential...as well as be easy to replace if it gets wrecked. Then get your self a third gen. They are alot lighter than the 4th gen...and it can easily be lighter than a vette with weight reductions.
My '87 GTA weights 3350 with full cloth interior minus the spare tire. SAve 100lbs for a ls1 vs the TPI. 3250. You can keep going from there if you start taking things out of the car.
This is what i am doing. Just trying to give you alittle food for thought
-edit.. i also have access to quite a few rolling chasses you could start out with. Camaro or Firebird. I will be back in FL late January.
here is a link to where some of the cars can be seen

ASA cam is cheaper I believe and you can use LS6 springs (light single spring). That would be my choice. I also wouldnt drop the cash on the oval intake. It does add power, but its pretty expensive compared to a stock ported tb and a used LS6 intake. I just dont think it coincides with your "budget" build.

The Comp 987s are dirt cheap, light and provide the insurance of being duals in case of failure.
Still like the ASA. Haven't made up my mind. Plenty of time to think about this. The Lunati is pretty cheap at SDPC also. Same price as ASA.
