Default 408 cam ?

hey fellas,

I was just wondering what size cams you 408 guys are going with? I am thinking about going bigger than my 242/248 .608/.612 112 lsa..., but didn't want to sacrifice too much driveability....

Any suggestions/recommendations....

BTW, this is some details to my setup:
Kooks 1 7/8 Long Tubes,B&M,Slammed. 408ci Iron block 11.1:1 static compression ratio;Fresh LQ4 block bored .030 over,Eagle 4" crank,Eagle 6.125" rod w/ L19 bolt upgrade,Diamond flat top pistons,Comp OE style lifters,A.R.P. head bolts and main studs,Cometic MLS head gaskets,TEA Stage III cylinder heads,Comp XER grind 242/248 .608/.612 112 lsa

I just made 425/445 on my new HPE 408, 11:1, 244/248 .635/.627 112 +4 cam, LT/ORY, and Stock 6.0 heads. The cam is a dog on the street at anything under 2200 rpm. I wouldn't really go any higher than what I have for a dd car, of course I still have the stock 3:42's so that doesn't help much with street driving.

Thanks for the input guys...

I put down 465/445 initially, but I had some issues w/ my motor and it was torn down and put together again. Spun a main bearing and found a broken valve spring. I added larger 1 7/8 headers, x-pipe and no cats..... I have a FAST Intake and LS2 throttle body on order. I really want to get to 530 to 540 rwhp on motor, just wondering if a larger cam would get me anywhere near that?

I'd say stick in what you got right now and see what it does. It may respond better to the intake/exhaust mods you're adding. Then go from there.

My 408 is being built right now at G-Force. I went with a 244 248 around 620ish 114. I have all the goodies in my sig going on it with a set of ET 245 heads. We plan on 530 rwhp and 750rwhp on a 200 shot. I wanted good DD attitude. My car is full weight, A/C, and all. Anything over 500 is good for a solid street car! Driveablity is very important to me. My wife drives it everyonce in-awhile!!
