what cam?
I need a cam its my daily driver.I am looking for a cam with good driveablity.something with decent low end and midrange since our cars pull preety good uptop.I wiill not have headers but a ported tb.I know people have been telling me that a cam wont shine without LT but I live in Cali and will not do it.Will a 224 cam be good or a 220.Someone told me to get a zo6 cam but they tell me ITs only good uptop say starting from 4500rpm.I have 273 gears and I think its a 3000 stall.I will get a 12 bolt later on in the future.

Very good gains. Check out Thunder Racing's website.
The CheaTR was designed for use with stock manifolds and stock heads. Nice thing about it is that it also works well with upgraded heads and long tubes. This is the cam for you.

I just installed a CheaTR cam yesterday and got it tuned. It was a 2000 TA with a 3600 stall. Everything else stock! Cam only we pushed 330RWHP For a automatic with that kind of stall I was very impressed with that #. I mean this guy had a full stock exhaust! Car few for a cam only. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to see good power gains and still have a somewhat stealthy car!

I would also call Comp Cams or Lunati and tell them what you got and what you are wanting to do, both can give you excellent recommendations and you don't have to buy if it doesn't sound like what you want. Both companies have been in business for years and are the experts in the cam department.

A big split like the CheaTR 214/230 .601/.578 117 LSA gives lots more exhaust duration so that there is more time to expell gasses through those stock manifolds.
224/224 will be all choked up.

From looking at a few Cheater dyno graphs, I wouldn't recommend it to someone looking for more bottom end and midrange power. It seems to peak a bit too high for my tastes. A 224 generally has a better torque curve but they are generally used with a better exhaust. Check out some graphs in the dyno section and get even more confused like me. LOL

this car is a daily driver...the cheatr cam will require much attention to the valvesprings. my suggestion: call lunati cams and speak with someone who can generate a custom grind for you that won't be constantly raping your valvesprings.

The cheatR cam is probably the cam for you.
It has tons of duration where you need it. I agree that the 224 will be choked due to the stock exhaust setup.
The thing i like about these cheatR cams is that they really like inake mods. It has a low intake duration compared to the exhaust. You'll have more exhaust flow though through the stock Manifolds you should be on par. With a set of heads and a fast setup, you should see some really nice numbers....though numbers arent everything, its how she will respond and ytou should expect low 12'z when your done. Thats is, with a big stall, intake, and traction.
Also, i have read that you can run LT'z in CAli if you tune right....
good luck...!!

Im afraid to mention this cam for fear of being booo'd.
Lets not forget the GM hot cam. Its designed for just your application.
Lotta folks hate it, but just as many love it....do a search..........good #'s outta bone stock engines.
Lingenfelter GT2-3 cam is another excellent choice.
Both come in a package deal that includes springs.
Im a little leary of cams that push the .600 lift on stock applications.....a little too close to the pistons for my taste.

Yes. I second the LPE GT23 cam. Note that there are alternatives to maintaining emissions and performance. I run a shorty 4-1 header, keep cats in their original location and 2.25" catback and still pull 12.2@112MPH on a good night - unopened.
A custom cam is always an option too - no extra cost. Something like a 220-220-112+4 XE-R lobe comp cam would be a solid performer for the stock short block and will just blossom the more mods you do.
