I'm researching getting my engine stroked, how many of you guys stroked your ls1s? Would a 4" stroke be a good sized stroke? What should be known about stroking an ls1? basic dos are don'ts i guess. Also to speed up my parts list research wuold you guys recomend a parts list? heads, crank, rods, all nickel and dimers heh. thanx.

Here's a good thread to read up on about strokers.

I would swap to a ls2, lq9 or the new 6.2 block if you are going to buy a stroker crank. The added bore will make a lot more power and give you an over square bore to stroke ratio. It allows you do run bigger valves and get some more flow out of the heads. There are a lot of parts involved in doing a new motor. It is almost easier to have a sponsor just build you one and crate it to you. Sell your current motor to offset the cost.

4" is the most common stroke. Some people do 4.125", and if you are crazy, 4.250". Before we can suggest parts you need to tell us your plans for the car and engine.

Just do a 383, with the better heads and cam selections nowadays you could get close to 500 rwhp. A 450 or 500 hp 383 would be no slouch.
I have had my 395 all stroke for several years now.

The ls2 section had some good info on the new 6.2L alluminum truck block. I think it is avialable or almost out from what a friend told me.

383 are obsolete...do one for cheap if thats what you are going to do. Deal on the parts. Im glad I did one way back when.

500rwhp+ you can make by mistake with todays parts...
