Hahahahaha one ******* paper towel...figures.

Would of been nice if someone alerted me about the possiblity of the second paper towel being elsewhere in the motor! lol. Instead of telling me not to worry about it.

Question:
Would an MS3 work in a 408 like a smaller stroker profile?

Damn, I had to read all 10 pages to get a full understanding of what's going on here. Lithium, man I hope you get this sorted out, you've been a really good sport about this considering the situation you're in. I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya, you just keep us updated.

Dang you beat me to it! If the other one is still in there, then Id bet thats is all eat up scattered through out the motor. Which would cause major havoc.

Just take your time, youll find the problem. Start with all the simple stuff first, like the headers, pulley, plugs, make sure everythings pulg up, & so on. Do you have any SES lights?

I had my pulley go on to far one time rubbing on the oil pump & it would make a good knocking/ticking noise.

About that pulley...it looks like mine has some marks on it, like its rubbing against something. I would of heard it though the first couple times it started...

Hmm. Well, explain to me how an in-tact oil-soaked paper towel magically makes it through the fine-mesh oil pick-up tube screen, through to the oil pump (he stated he pulled it off and checked it), put in new rod bolts, with absolutely no sign of any remains of the towel what-so-ever? Which is more likely, a "magic" paper towel, or he simply didn't keep track of whether he removed one or two?

I'm going to step outside of the box here a bit and suggest that not everyone (not at his current experience level, anyway) should work on something as complicated as a modern V8.

I like this kid just as much as the next guy, but it's clear he may benefit from some professional help. All this talk of "loud banging noises" now.. WTF? Possibly a rod bolt came loose; that would be a good first guess. And why would THAT be?

Seriously, all the good will of this forum cannot guide his hands here. And quite possibly he's just having a string of bad luck. But it's up to him to "do something" about it, or hope for his luck to turn around. "Success happens when preparation meets opportunity".

Yes, go ahead and "flame on".
