I could not pinpoint the sound...it did sound like it was coming from the inside the intake ports.

I would pull the front cover to see if the cam & the crank sprockets are dot to dot. Did you check that when installed the cam? If you feel that its correct, then I guess either do the leak down test or ****** the heads to see if your having PtoV issues.

But before leaving the towels in the pan I started it up twice and it ran perectly each time...idled on its own, never tried to die. Only thing that went wrong was no oil pressure. Thats how I ended up in this mess to begin with...no oil pressure.

Then honestly judging by what you just said, I would check the rod bolts. Thats still im what Im stuck on. The timing isnt going to change unless you pulled the chain or cam.

No I had no pressure the first time I started the car so I shut it off. Then I thought I installed one of the spacers backwards so I got it all back together and tried again...thats when I left the towels in there. So there was no pressure before the towels were even in there...
Not sure what that is...I just bought a ported ls6 pump from this guy and put it on.

He's talking about the bleed off valve in the oil pump (shimming it is how you get higher oil pressure) and he's asking if you used an SLP shim.
Your answer is "I don't know, some other guy performed the porting/shimming work".
Either way, it doesn't pertain to this problem of knocking.

Alright,, I'm not 100% convinced it's the rod bolts yet, but it's obviously a high possibility. Therefore you have two options of attack right now:
1) Do a compression test and check for compression in each of the cylinders to rule out bent valves.
2) Pull the pan again and check out the rods and rod bolts to see if anything is obvious there.
I would probably start with #1 as it's the easiest and you can rent a compression/leakdown tester from an autozone or something.

Cool. I ll do that then tommarow.
I am just sketching out about the other towel...where could it of gone? I mean nothing in the filter...nothing in the crank...nothing in the pan...
