Are you sure the battery cable wasn't resting on the headers I did that a while back, but it waited to catch on fire until I was driving down the road... that was a great site

Just checked. I didnt see anything atleast...I hooked that one ground that connects to the front drivers side o2 sensor on to the alternator - would that cause something like that to happen?

I am just going to have it towed to a shop or something because this is really rediculous. I have been ******* with this car for way to long now
i know of a good shop in Rancho Cucamonga if you're fed up.. sorry to hear about the paper towel deal.. I won't hurt the motor but it will clog up your pickup..

Does it start smoking as soon as you hook the battery up? That's obvious bad wiring if so. That makeshift ground could be causing a problem.

yup, like right after I hooked them both up.

could the ground do that? where is it supposed to be grounded at? that was really the only place I could think of at the time. Or saw.

I had the same problem. Mine was that there is a ground strap that goes from the block (drivers side) to the fender. The strap cannot touch the alternator wire at any part. None of the strap can touch a hot contact and it hangs very close to the alternator. I would be surprised if you didn't melt the threads on the battery. I had to go buy a new battery when I did it.

I am getting so frustrated living vicariously through you and your troubles.

I would send you a Staples Easy button but a bug would probably fly into it and burn the wiring out so it wouldn't work.

So I think we should all start a pot and try to guess and beton what day you think this car will be back on the road. Winner takes the money. I am beginning to wonder if it will ever run again. Sorry for the doubt bro.
