Another update here.

Got the pan back in and everything bolted up...motor mounts, k memeber, pan...

Now I am going to throw the stock oil pump on and see what happens...only definite way to know.

Should I be worried about the towel here? I mean there was nothing in the screen...got everything out of the pan...made damn sure nothing was up in the crank...could a full paper towel go anywhere else???

Thanks again for your help I appreciate it.

I'll have my fingers crossed for you, hoping that you have oil pressure on start up and there are no pieces of paper towel in your engine.

What a thread! While I am quite capable of leaving paper towels in my motor, I could never bring myself to tell the whole LS1tech community about it. Too embarrassing!

I wish the best for you and your car.

I would fire it up and see if there is pressure. If there is, run it for 10 min and change the oil. I would change the oil a few times back to back to back.

Regarding stupid ****........I put in my oil pan w/o torquing it down correctly on my project 402 that I am just finishing up. It is leaking like crazy. I hope that it is leaking around the pan and not from the stupid plug in the back of the crank.

Best of luck. Keep us posted.

Far be it from me to throw cold water on anybody, but I would be concerned about even the tiniest bits of paper towel being swished around in bearings and orifices, or generally having tiny abrasive bits floating around until they clog/abrade or the filter gets them.

Or is it just me?

since the car has sat so long, i would disconnect the coils and bump the starter to see if there is pressure. i let my car sit for about 3 months (never cracked the engine open, it was a tranny problem) and it took a good 30 seconds or so for the oil pressure to finally show up.

just my .02

Best of luck to you

Dont say that!!!

I am worried to cause I only pulled one towel out of there. But there was nothing in both filters and in the crank...nothing at all. It only ran for 5 seconds total as well, so it could not of traveled that far you think?
