Default Crane valvetrain Components?

I fixing to order some valvetrain components for my 5.3 heads that are gonna go on my LS1 that I'm gonna put in my truck. The heads are gonna be shaved .010-.015 and have stage 2 headwork done by PP. The cam is gonna have between .570-.588 lift on a 112-113 LSA.

I was wondering if I should go with the Crane Dual Valvesprings, retainers, etc. ? Does Anybody have any input on this? Or should I go with the Patriot or PRC packages?

Also, are the Titanium retainers worth the money or could I just get the steel ones?

If I do go with the Crane Components, what is everything that I need? I know the springs, retainers, locks and that's really all I know. Thanks Guys!

Patriots will give you more seat pressure for a given installed height. If you use the Cranes, and need more seat pressure, shims are required (as with any spring). Titanium retainers are a very good thing to have. I don't see how you can beat the deal on the Patriots to be honest, they even come with shims and Super 7 locks.

Default Crane question

Yes, I would use the Crane stuff. I personally use it and sell there stuff. Never had any problems. As far as springs, you can put them in at 1.800, but a little shorter would not hurt. They say 112 on the seat at 1.800, but they usually check in higher than that. If you wait a little longer the #144833-16 spring will be out, and they are 137# on the seat at 1.800. As far as ti retainers, I would rather see you use steel, take the extra money you saved, and save for 1.7 quick lifts. Ti retainers are the best, but this is a truck, and I don't think you are championship racing it. Stock locks will work with there retainers, or you can buy theres. Here a few part #'s
Crane Cams Springs=#144832-16 or #144833-16 when avab.
Retainers=#144944-16(steel)/#144661-16(titanium)
Locks=#99108-1
If the heads are 2002 or newer, you will have Cranes locators #144460-16 along with 2001 and older seals to go with them. If you need seals, use the GM's, the intake and exhaust are different part #'s. Good Luck, if you have any other questions let me know. Thanks.

I have Crane's 1.80:1 aluminum roller rocker arms, studs, guide plates, push rods, studs, and 144832-16 double wire springs in my Z06. They have been 100% reliable. I can safely turn 7,200 rpm with no sign of any valve train instability.

Good luck with your decision.

Either will work, what is key is figuring out what you need for seat pressure (installed height) and then shim accordingly with either or for that matter any spring. Both springs you are considering have proven themselves as pretty reliable if correctly set up.

I have crane dual springs, and have put about 10K on them. And I did not even shim them, I did'nt know I had to. I have had no problems.
But now I would go back and check them, If I were keeping them on..

Thanks for the info! When are the new springs supposed to be coming out? Do you know the price? Do I need the spring inserts for either spring?

I won't be doing the install, most likely whoever I get to polish the chambers will.

Thanks everybody for the input. If there are others, please share your experiences.

The new Crane springs will use the same seat/retainer hardware as the 832's is what I was told by Mark Cambell at Crane.
