Default LS2 or Rollmaster Timing Chain

I'm going to be picking up a new timing chain and was wondering if there is any difference between them. I'm talking about the single roller. The cost difference is about $30, I beleive.

Thanks

The Nmotion LS2 set from SDPC has a 9 key way bottom gear which is why I bought it last week for my cam install this weekend. I think its 72 bucks or so plus shippin.

I use a LS2 chain here and spin the motor to 7000. It works fine for me.

Bo, whats the difference between a single/double row? Why would anyone want to go double? Any other changes when installing?

Thanks

On a double you have to shim for clearance, and it may or may not give you added insurance. I would say that the LS2 is your best option. I do however have the rollermaster. LS2 is good enough for the C5-R race car so I would say it should work for you too.

Exactly. Save yourself over $100 by going with the $25 LS2 chain compared to the double roller.

Not to get off track here but.
If upgrading to a LS2 chain on a High mileage LS1 motor, it would be best to replace crank and cam sprocket, while replacing chain.
So are the cam and crank sprockets (part #) & size ect the same from LS1-LS2???

Unless there is noticeable wear on the sprockets I would not worry too much. This are receives mucho oil lubrication so wear on those parts should be kept to bare minimum. When I added my different cams my car had so low miles that I kept the stock LS1 chain. Shortblock only had 27K on it now. When i'm in there next time I plan on throwing in an LS2 chain for the hell of it. It's sooo cheap and easy it's well worth it. How many TC failures do you often hear of anyway?

The double rows are outdated except in extreme apps. You have to space the pump out and machine the balancer for clearance and alignment issues you run into by runnin the thicker double row. I got the whole set for like 81 bucks shipped so its a great deal.

Anyone have the part number for the LS2 chain? My motor is a 2000 LS1 with 24K miles. I assume that I wont need the sprockets with the low mileage?

Does anyone have an answer to this question? If I buy the LS2 timing set with the sprockets, will it be compatible with my LS1??

The LS2 chain has the timing teeth for the cam sensor, so I don't know if it would fit under the stock LS1 cover or not. There would really be no need when you could just order new 98 sprockets w/ the LS2 chain.

No need for the LS2 Sprocket, there are the same amount of teetch on both sprockets but if you must opt for the sprockets i am unswure if the crank snout has the same diameter i am sure it does but i wouldnt replace it to be on the safe side, and besides the sprockets dont have any porblems with them to begin with, atleast i would hope not
