Default New cam is in!

I drove up to gomers this morning at crack 30 to install my new cam that is a custom grind that gomer came up with to work with these LS6 CNC castings that hit the market here lately with the yellow LS6 springs. Its called the YellowMax and we will be dynoin it very soon. It works with the stock converter even- very well I must say the least! It has a slight hit at idle and will probably be availible in 2 versions for A4 and M6 apps but not sure on that, more on that later when testing is done on a M6 car probably. We will be dyno tuning mine very soon so he will post up graphs and such of what we get with my car.

Are you allowed to give away the specifics of the cam, or at least tell us what size you went with?

Im still amazed on the driveability of this cam without tuning yet. Lookin forward to gettin it tweaked on the dyno, all gomer did to it after the cam install was bump my limiter and shift points- which the 2-3 shift is a tad high at the moment but easily fixed

Hey Bo I noticed you dont have a verter.I posted on another thread about getting a cam as well without the verter, but most of the replies said to get the verter first.Well been leaning towards the verter but now that I am I hear about the trans not lasting long.Iwant the most performance out of my car,but this is my daily driver,it has to last.
I have the same mods LT,ORY lid.I know a cam will make adifference but everone says a verter will make abigger one. There are only a few that have a cam withb the stock verter.Any stalling/starting issues with the stock verter? Need help deciding this car will rarely see the track but want more performance than what Ihave now.

The computer must be learning the cam because I drove it to work today and its even smoother driving wise. Its gotta definate lick to it- my mom even noticed "I knew you couldnt leave that car alone, done got it goin bubububu!" lol, gotta love my mom. Its near stock driving around slow with the stock converter and the only time you can hear the cam is at a dead idle, any gas applied and it instantly goes away. Just as soon as the dyno is back up and runnin, gomers gonna tweak the tune and post up the results. The only change Ive made is cam and pulley- even reused the 120k mile timing set since it was in amazing shape. Even gomer was like "I know this motors never been ran hard! Ive seen new chains with that amount of slack."

The stock 806's at the moment and the yellow LS6 springs. Going to put some ported stock valved heads on real soon to continue the R&D of this cam.

How long do you expect those LS6 springs to last with that cam? I thought about trying to find a cam to run with those, but too many people told me they weren't good for much more than the stock LS6 cam and that I should go straight to 918's.

I thought everyone would assume that I would run a set that I ported(which I will) . I will try a set of the Patriot 243s on my car but some more will be on it as well and it will al be documented.

I have a larger duration "choppy" cam for the yellow springs that I'm going to stick in an 05 GTO next week. I'll post up the dyno results on it too. It will be a good bit more on the wild side than Bo's stock conveter cam, but will still work with the LS6 springs that the wave of cost effective ported 243 heads use.
