I would support it just to be safe. Only loosen the bolts as much as you need to in order to get that pan to slide out.

When I did mine I just undid the drivers side and pulled it down as far as the brake line would let me go.I also jacked the motor as high as it would go then. Then wiggled the pan out.I used the crank snout.I know some say not to,but I've got over 20,000 miles since I've done it with no issues.

Once you do the K-member be prepared to go get your front end aligned. It can mess the alignment way up.I'm not sure I undid all the right bolts but only the brake line was holding it and when I got it back together my alignment was shot.

Edit: I took the bolts all the way out.

Use something to support the engine from the top. Some people use a piece of wood across the shock towers with chains bolted into the front of each head. I personally have this to use

Unbolt the engine mounts and support the K-member with a jack. It will probably be easier to take out the A/C compresser and alternater to unbolt the mounts. Take out the 6 bolts and lower the K-member while watching to make sure nothing is going to get pulled out or broke. You will probably have to take the bolt out of the steering shaft also. Once the K-member is lowered you should have plenty of room to work.

Got all 6 bolts loosened and it will not drop any. I need to stick something in there and pry it loose? correct?

Where is the best spot to stick something in there at?

That's weird! Did you unbolt the motor mounts?

Got the K member lowered - thats done. Got the jack with some wood under the bellhousing jacked up all the way it can go. Now, I seriously only need less then another quarter inch or so for the pan to come out. Any ideas???

Well I will after all this.

I am still at a loss for why the ls6 pump is not working...I took it apart and compared it with the stocker and found nothing wrong or out of place.

So the K-member won't drop anymore at all?? I dunno...maybe check the hard lines for the power steering pump, maybe that's holding it up? I'm not sure, trying to think of what could be keeping it.
