if drag racing is the focus, then i think that an auto would be the best choice to mod. you could do a test to see what the exact effects of different stall speeds/str are on the dyno and track. also if you start having problems with the tranny, find a place to do a reliable buildup of the a4

True. I went 11.5 or 11.6 with h/c back in 2000 seems like a long time ago now.

I didnt know there were any F-bods up in Iceland!
I would like to see the mod for mod dyno.
The cam one will probably be a big hit as well.

It would be nice dyno and track runs. From stock to 10 seconds. Drag radials bieng first mods to take traction out of the question. Sort of been thinking LS1 myself.

I think it would be cool to do something like a baby, mild, and big cam. Like a vinci 210/218-112, then a 224/228-112 and a F-14 cam(232/234-112). Then slap some AFR 205s on it. Just my .02

I would love to see something like this happen. Myself being fairly new to the site as well as being new to the F-Body world would see this build up as a step by step guide as to the possibilities for my stock Z. I have basic to intermediate knowledge of external engine performance (i.e. intake, exhaust, etc.) and virtually no knowings as to what internal mods would really make me go faster.
So please if you do do something like this keep on posting what is going on. I would love to follow and learn. Thanks.

how about letting the forum decide on each mod? set up a sticky poll on each major step of the process, close the poll at a designated time and do what ever wins. like, before you buy the car, get a few choices of color or transmission type, then get which ever one wins. then set up the poll for the bolt-ons, have people vote on the brand of headers, etc... dyno after each mod and post results. just a thought

I like the idea. Everyone is always looking for new and different mods. I think it would help a lot of people out on some of their decisions. I know I'm always in the market for new products and think that it would be nice to know how some of the parts perform before I try and buy anything. I would vote for an auto w/ stall.

What I would like to see is a test mule motor on a engine dyno to do a complete comparison of a whole range of parts. Intakes, heads, cam, headers.
This would require a large outlay of money to finance.
Is there someone willing to set up a lottery.
You would submit say $20 per ticket. Set a cap at 1000 people. Thats $20,000 to play with. The people that had bought a ticket would then have a chance to win the parts that had been used in the test.
I realize that this would be a difficult process to set up but it would be interesting to see some impartial results.
With the number of people on ls1 tech I don't think that it is out of the question to get 1000 people maybe I'm wrong but I'd be willing to play.

I would absolutely love to see this done. I own a completely stock (well I don't count a lid) SS that I'm just now starting to make some money to mod with (bought the TD's and the LT's but they ain't gonna be on for another couple of weeks) and I'd love to see how someone who has some experience is going to approach it. There's a lot of stuff that I know jackshit about that something like this could teach me, I'm sure there are a lot of other guys in the same boat as me too.

Edit: Please, please, PLEASE do it with the m6
