Default TEA Stage 1.5 heads 216/220 CC results

Here is my C5 with all 'normal' boltons vs no change except a 216/220 525/532 114 comp cam vs adding the The TEA stage 1.5 (sorta, stage 1's with the 2.02 ferrea intake valve) 5.3 heads. The boltons and cam numbers were pretty well tuned and that was all I could get out of it. The head numbers are untuned with some KR resulting in 18-23 degrees of WOT timing, a/f was 12.1-12.5, all pulls are converter locked:

Thats through cats and stock Z06 exhaust, I'm sure once I get some time to fool with it (snowing ) I'll get near 400rwhp with the cats off. There is no doubt a larger cam will do better but this car sounds/drives like stock with a tiny lope with the idle at 800rpm - its my nice weather daily driver. Plus with the stock Ti exhaust its so quiet all you can hear in the car is the intake noise at WOT.

Nothing earth shattering but a nice, quiet, reliable combo and I dont fear broken valve springs. I went with 918s with such a small cam - should last forever and spent an extra few bucks on the intake valves. Oh yea, the car just turned 80,000 miles on the stock short block yesterday

I spent a while at TEA and they have a nice operation going there. I have never seen a five axis CNC before - awesome. Spent an hour BSing with Brent and Brian and they are a couple of great people. I wont debate about who has the 'best' heads out there but I am pleased so far at the cost and performance of these heads.

There's a good 10-15rwhp still left in her if you get the A/F right and the timing up where it should be.

Good numbers for a vette drivetrain and an auto!

I agree with Mark.. You have atleast 10 to 15rwhp left with just tuning. 400rwhp plus minus cats should be easy..

That sounds like a great street package! Which track did you run the sc car at? Bristol?

The car has a bit more in it, I was in a hurry and had crap gas and the stock thermostat in the car but I just wanted to see what the heads picked up. I have unlimited access to a dynojet/wideband five minutes from my house so I dyno whenever I change something and/or when I'm bored. I shimmed the stock stat, lowered the fans, put some TR-6s in it plus changed the timing tables a bit and I'll try it again next week (minus cats). I love these LS1s

Nice improvement. I like your setup. Your goals and numbers are similar to mine, although I have an M6 SS with shorties.

Now you've got a street sleeper and can surprise some of the Z06 boyz.

Good power for a mild setup.I like the fact that it still runs and drives like a stocker.Well until you hit it.

Unless you milled the **** out of the heads or have nitrous, I wouldn't run TR6 plugs. There is nothing to gain if you have engine temps under control and the potential to loose a few HP.
Your knock issue is probably not heat related.

That looks to be a very mild-mannered yet powerful combination.

I am sure you will get the problems worked out. I would think it will be well into the 11's after seeing what it ran before cam and heads.

I left the TR6s in my camaro after I pulled the blower and the car still ran/dynod fine with them. After 5000 miles off n/a driving I was going to change them when I traded the car in but I pulled one and it looked fine and left them - I bet they are still in the car wherever it is While they may not help they sure wont hurt, and since I have 6 boxes of them here I have to use them up

The car was ~220 on the dyno on some pulls - thats kinda hot. I just had the stock stat and slightly reduced fan settings.

99C5s are bad spark knockers, this car has had detonation problems since stock. It has very agressive timing tables, there is an upgraded GM flash for it that pulls out a lot of timing but I have just been slowly taking it out of cells that are showing KR at tip-in. The car doesnt knock at WOT, at tip in it does and trips the sensors and the KR will be around the whole pull..

Just a quick update, spent a couple hours fooling with this thing on the dyno today. I was going to try it with the cats off but I will never drive the car like that so I left them on..

Anyhow 387/377 was all I could get after 15 pulls and a lot of different changes with LS1edit. Had to knock the timing back a few degrees from stock 25-29 to 22-25 otherwise it would detonate with pump gas, even at a 12:1 a/f I'm sure with the cats off and less restrictive exhaust (or even with the cats and some better gas) I would see 400rwhp but the car is staying like it is for now
