Default How much hp with cam

Im looking into getting a new cam for my car (keeping it "streetable") and im just starting to do my research so maybe you guys can help a little

I suppose this question only applies to those of you who put cams on nearly stock cars (as thats what i have).

What cam did you use and how much hp did you gain as a result.. would you recommend it?

ok
What cam were you thinking about getting?
You want lowend power mid range, or high end?
Are you planning on DD'ing this car or taking it all out drag?
You want to run forced induction?

Basically tell me the direction you want the car to go and I will see if i can help you figure out what works best for you.

I daily drove a 230/236 114+4 LSA Comp Cam with full exhaust and stock TB and made 390 at the wheel. It was a great cam

I would highly recommend a MS3 from Texas Speed! Great peak and great drivability with the right tune. Also, you can spray the **** out of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Honestly didnt have a cam in mind... been looking at TS stuff lately tho
I think i want more mid to hi range power (as i wont be doing much launching)

this will def be a dd type car with maybe a couple drag runs a year for the hell of it... but nothing serious...

im extremely hesitant about NO2 so that isnt really a factor and a fi is nowhere in the near future

You sound like a F14 or an MS3 candidate. Maybe a torquer v2?

F14 here and my numbers are in my sig.......i picked up 71 rwhp over bolt ons and 25 rwtq.......great driveability, you can't even tell it's there above 1500 rpm when you're driving normal.....the lope at idle though is impossible to hide to anyone within hearing distance......on the highway i still get 26 mpg and even with the 3.73 gears i'm only spinning about 1900 rpm at 70mph. It bucks and surges a little bit between 1000/1500 rpm in first at very low speed, but that's pretty much normal for a good size cammed car.
