Nice thing about the hot cam is it's easy on the valve train. There is also the ASA cam which has the same lift. Also easy on the valve train with a little more top end ummmph! Specs are..

GMPP ASA Cam
226/236 int/exh @ 0.05" duration
0.525" / 0.525" int/exh lift
110 LSA

That's what I would install.

How much, if any, more agressive are the lobes on the ASA and does it lope noticeably harder?

I'll have numbers on my hotcam in a couple of days for a stroker application. I'll probably wind up going with something bigger eventually, but I had it and wanted to see what it'd actually do. The previous owner of the cam/heads I'm running got 390hp/390ft. lbs. and ran 11.3 with a stock bottom end (that's what I was told anyway).

So do you guys feel that the engine is running about where it should with this cam? I was thinking about instaling a tr224 112, or should I stick to the GM cams. The GM cams are just sooo expensive.

The ASA pulls much harder on top 3000-6500 rpm. It will lope like a big dog and not have much down low.

There are better cams out there but, like I said before, these cams are easy on the springs and with a set of LS6 springs will go 100k miles without needing replacement!

Posted before about the hotcam - maybe this would sway your decision either toward or away from it: http://video.ls1tech.com/category/Ca...6C6AF3F4AA.htm

That is one quick Neon! Thank you for the info. I don't know if GM has the ASA cam anymore. I have the new 06 GMPP book in front of me and is looks like that cam has been replaced with the Showroom Stock cam which is a
239/239 .570 on a 106.5 center. I'll bet that thing idles over a grand!

With all the other new grinds and lobe tech available, why would anyone even consider the HC.

Then they shouldn't do cam swap. If you can't afford $100 extra, you can't do the swap properly.

Cam swap requires:
Cam
Gasket/bolt kit
Springs
fluids/sealants
tools
and most importantly (TUNING).

So in my opinion, if you do not have the complete budget to do all of these at the same time, you are doing things "half ***" and you are hurting your motor.

The thing that I see here with enthusiasts ALL the time, is them doing swaps and then running the car once it is done without TUNING.
That makes me crinch everytime. I really think there should be a DO NOT DO sticky, to make the modders understand the effects of not doing things properly from the first time.

The ls1 hotcam is a decent mild cam, I would say, however, that there are probably better mild cams out there that will put down more power and probably even be a little more streetable.

It's definitely quick, but I won't say I always feel confident with it in a race, even though I've only "lost" to an '04 cobra.

I currently have the hotcam, lts, !cats, catback, switching to MS3/heads/4.10s soon... (time to get confident).
