If you are that well off you cheated on your taxes to get 6500 back. Or you are a finacial idiot. That would be an intrest free loan you are giving away. Unless you have 7 kids.

Before you spend your money you should try and come to a decision as to how far you are going to mod. No sense in building a H/C 347 when a year from now you are going to want more cubes. I was in much the same situation as you a couple of months ago and had to decide whether to do a ls2 or just stay with a 347 with H/C.
I decided to stay with the 347 and as long as I can keep telling myself that this is what I am going to stay with then everything should be fine. Just remember it is always cheaper to spend the money once on quality and work towards a final goal.
If you think that you might want more cubes in the future then think about adding a good set of headers and maybe a Fast 90/90 these you can transfer to your next build.

Forged shortblock & heads if you want to do NO2. But I would get an ATI Procharger or a turbo if I had $6500 to blow.

Start adding things up with a wet sump and some good parts
Warhawk block $4000
Warhawk heads $2200
Callies crank $2100
Carillo rods $1600
Pistons, rings $1000
Cam $500
timing chain and gears $200
Intake $300
Throttle body $400
Fuel rails, injectors $400
water pump $150
balancer $500
Coils, brackets $400
Covers $200
oil pump $155
Bolts, gaskets $300

These are the major things, there are a lot of little things I'm leaving out. I'm up to $14.5k for parts. Add engine balancing and blueprinting, assembly and dyno and we're getting close to $18k.

Default hmmm

Patriot heads, rebuild stock shortblock (n/a usage will be cheaper), F13 cam, bolt-ons (do NOT buy bolt-ons new... most always go used.. atleast for exhaust parts!)

that'll get you in at $6500 or below (below if you're frugal)

oh, budget in some subframes, lower control arms, torque arm, swaybars, and shocks etc.... again, none of which should be new (except for bushings and shocks)
