Default Replaced Cam ,now car stalls

I have a 79 Camaro with an LS1 engine. I installed springs and a 571-573 Lift Cam from Comp Cams. I used a Crane Power Tuner for the computer adjustments. Everything runs good, however, the car runs for five min. and then stalls. If I hold the RPM's up to 1,000 I can get the car to idle for a while then begins to fluxuate and stalls. Any solutions appriciated.

lose the crane power crapper and see if you can get a better tune.i doubt a cam would run for 5 mins then start to act up.

also check all your connections for the o2 sensors,it sounds like a closed loop fueling problem.

just a thought... did you take heads off during yoour cam swap?..if so you may have air in the block were there should be coolant...causing an air bubble, causing you to heat up to much which triggers the cpu to shut the motor down. if so you need to purge

If somebody wants my Crane Power Crapper I'll sell it for $310 shipped.

I've been using it on my car with a big cam and it's doing pretty good.

I need to get a dyno tune to handle the nitrous I'm planning so the tuner will be sold.

I payed $429... I'll take $310 shipped.

What is the duration on that cam? It may be out of the Cranes perimeters. I have seen many people run that tuner with healthy cams, they just have thier limit. You may want to check with Vinci High Performance and see if it should be ok. Overall I believe that the Crane is an excellent product for what it was intended to do. For those of us who drive our cars daily, dont have time to learn and play with a tuner suite, and run small to medium sized cams, it runs great. But i forgot, if we dont have a T-rex or some other Godzilla sized monster cam, and the God sent HPTUNERS to transform it into untouchable king of all cars then we dont have a clue ...right..

Seriously, the Crane programmer sucks.

That's all I have to say about the tuner. It's a good stop-gap till you can get a real tune, but if a friend with hptuners didn't tell me that I was WAY rich I'd have never known. And then when he said I was a bit lean, I wouldn't have known that eigther.

Get a real tune, unless you feel lucky... $310 shipped to your door.

the wonderful thing about the crane power crapper is the adjustability. you can't just plug one of the tunes in and think it's right off the bat. to get it 'tuned' in better, you will need a wideband just like any other tuner you use. maybe if you would've went to a dyno and tuned it on the dyno, you might not have been WAY rich or lean. good thing about hptuners is it has a datalogging system with it. i use my vinci/crane tuners on both cars and use a dyno to tune it on as well as use my scanner.

sounds like you may have a vacuum leak. what is the duration of the cam? and what cam program are you using? even though the 210/218 cam i had in the wife's car would put it in the cam#1 program, i ended up using the cam #3. mainly because it has better cold start tuning in it.

the crane is just not worth what they ask.429 dollars for something that can do 10 percent of what hp tuners or efi live can do for 75 dollars more.To many people get scared of the big tuning software and think its a real time consumer to do,thats just not the case.If the crane was like 250 bucks i wouldnt call it crap.but 429,come on
