Default Dart 225 Head "as cast" Pictures

These were a Christmas gift from my wife. They arrived a couple of days ago. I haven't seen a whole bunch of "as cast" pictures of these heads floating around so I figured I would post these for informational purposes. These are straight out of the box. I only took the valves out for the pictures.
Enjoy!

So who was doing the grinding on them? Are you planning on hand finishing them?

Thank you very much for the very interesting pictures. But will you have to upgrade to a stronger double valve spring. I here these heads come with beehive singles is it true?

These heads are advertised as CNC blended but they look hand blended.

yes, they certainly do look hand blended with a die grinder and a carbide burr. I can see a bunch of places to touch up with a grinder and a few sanding cartridge rolls... The heads look nice for castings though thats for sure.

I plan to leave them alone even though I ported the last set myself. I agree that the valve seat areas do look hand-blended. I believe that is typical practice after installing seats. That is how my last set looked after my valve job. The single springs are good to .625" lift and my cam is only .575" so I don't plan to upgrade springs.

With your larger/heavier 2.05 intake valves and the higher rpm's you will have to spin your motor to really make good power numbers using these heads. I think you will need stronger duel springs and a higher lift cam to really make these 225 heads work for you. Futral commented briefly about his double valve spring option concerning these heads in another thread.

I am not really worried about the combination of my cam and the Darts. I know people with larger intake port volumes that are running cams around the same size as mine with no problems. As far as power numbers, if you mean on the dyno, I am not a big dyno guy so that is the least of my concerns. I dynoed my setup I have now at a club dyno day and only put down 359rwhp. The cam is staying in the car for now since I have had very good results in the 1/4 mile with it and my homeported heads. I guess we will have to see what the results will be the next time I take it to the track. My only real concern is going faster than 11.38.

Are the Dart 225s set up for a 3.9, or a 4" bore?

Can you ellaborate? These springs are beehive springs and have a pretty stout spring rate (384 #/in) along with a good seat pressure. They are also only 66 grams and the 2.05 intake is about the same weight as the stock 2" intake so I guess I am confused. I have the Dart 205's and the intake valve, although slightly larger than stock, is 3 grams lighter.
