Default friend bought a used ls1, cammed or not??

One of my close friends (a gm and camaro nut) just scored a:

2000 camaro z28 A4
110,xxx miles
Clean inside and out
Metallic navy blue
Cloth interior
t-tops
factory 16” rims
Bought it for $6,800.

The dealer didn’t know the car was moded. Whoever the previous owner was, knew of Speed inc since there are two speed inc stickers on the hatch back.

Mods on car:
SLP lid
Ported TB
Hooker LT, and ORY pipe
Flowtech cutout
Cheap exhaust tips/muffler
Bmr lowering springs
Ls6 intake

And the expensive beauty of it
HAL QA1 adjustable shocks all the way around!

The car had a rough idle and surging problem which was fixed with a new Throttle position sensor.

I will be posting pics of his car and mine soon! He will also be registering here!

I do have two questions:

1. Since his car and mine has similar performance mods, why would my pull so much harder and smoke his in a race as it does. I know have a very strong engine and yes mines a 2001 z28 but the difference between 00-01 I thought was minimal, except for the cam and intake. 01-02 models have the ls6 intake and a smaller more torque cam. Is that really enough for an 01 to smoke an 00?

2. Also looking at the car, the MAF has holes drilled in it (obviously for nitrous) but the throttle blade has the idle hole drilled out larger. Which I thought was something you only do if you install a cam and dont tune the pcm.
Is there anyother reason to drill the throttle blade?
also his car does sound like it has a slight lope to it during idle, is this something you hear with a small cam. I asked this because you would think his car would be faster then mine since I only have bolts ons.

It's possible that the previous owner bought the ported TB used, and it had been on a cammed car. If the car was cammed, tuned or not it shouldn't have a problem hanging with you in a race.
But, take the car to get dyno'd and see what the a/f and power looks like. It's possible that its got a small cam in and its just running so rich that its not making anywhere near optimal power.

Also, is the MAF descreened? ... it could be possible that the MAF sensor is messed up alittle bit and giving false readings b/c of it being tampered with for the nitrous.
