O.K. maybe I shouldn't say LOTS, but I have seen several. Most probably are in the 38x-39x range.

Its all in the tune. You should be able to hit 390 without taking it to 6500 rpms. This is where the tr224 is a great cam. If you dont want to play above 6000 rpms for a peak hp number, you cant beat it. Best street cam on the planet. Get the cam and then gets heads to support it and see what it will do. Numbers are in my sig.

I've tuned a lot of cammed cars over the past few years and the 224 style cams seem the best all around cam for these cars, great power, great torque curve, great driveability, and can pass emissions on a 114lsa

uhm....i made 375 rwhp untuned (i ran out of time so the only tuning was to make it idle and a little a/f to help drivability/gas mileage since i had a 100+mile trek home), with 224 cam, lid, headers, and TD's. thats all. so your saying with the rest of the bolt ons i wont come to 400? i think with a pulley, ls6 intake, TB and a retune i should be at 400rwhp

Default Did I miss it?

Maybe I missed it but how much HP difference is there between the 224 and 228? Is anyone able to overlay two dyno charts to show the power curves? I really don't want to get hung up on peak power but overall output. Especially without spinning the motor up to 7,000RPMs.

I have also been looking at the TSP cam package. How would the 224 or 228 even effect drivability and gas mileage of m6? Mods in sig, but then I would really have to worry about my 10 bolt

Does the compression ratio effect where the power band is? if I wanted 11.1 to 1 compression and I got a 230/230 cam with stock ported heads would I have a good combo? Id like to set the rev limiter at 6500.

Another question is about using stock 98 manifolds temporarely with a cam that size. Im doing a swap in my third gen and will need the car drivable while I try to fab my own long tubes. Will the manifolds just restrict the power some or will I have runability issues?

The man speaks the truth - see sig - he tuned my car. (Mine is only a 222/222 though so it could be a little different)

Man this is a tough choice, because i am planning a cam sometime and when i see the numbers, sometimes i want a 224, but then if i made like 370rwhp with it and boltons, i would be pretty unhappy, It would be nice to make 430rwhp with heads/cam/boltons. Is that possible with the 224? I mean on this site, i see out of the norm numbers compared to real life at times, meaning the guys with bad numbers don't post up.

224 is a good choice. Especially if you are having a hard time deciding. Plus FWIW I run 918's on my cam and have for over 10,000 miles. Don't cheap out on your drivetrain or it will hate you right back.

Hate to jump in but would a 224 cam work well with a SY3500 stall? with my mods im debating on which cam (224 or 228) to get. Take into consideration that I will be porting my TB before cam.

i dont know if you know Scott (smallwood) on here...but he made 413 with the FM10 (228/228) and boltons. Ken, myslef and just about everybody else i know with a cam only setup/tuning with a 228+ cam is over 400rwhp. The FM11 cam is fine for a DD. (228/230). I drove one of those for about 6 months on STOCK tuning and never had a problem.

its all about what you want. But cams are like converters....as soon as you get one....you want a bigger one.
