Hell that Cheater cam from thunder....we put one in a guy's car around here...and a set of AFR 205 (outta the box) 90/90...tuned......put down right at 438'ish i believe. Drives and sounds STOCK. And its definitely smaller than that 224-228 cams....

fwiw......

Just curious with a cam only setup which split is better? Traditional, reverse or same? I am looking around 228 duration and 112 lsa, but will be keeping stock heads. Also will a setup like this need to go up to 6500 rpm or will it make good power below? Thanks guys.

This car was an auto? I thought that only 220 and lower cams could get away without drivability tuning. My car just turned 120K and I've got a bad itch to have a cam installed.

Minor Difference between 224R and 228R. I am enjoying my 228R controlled by PRC duals with Titanium retainers. Planning on checking the springs soon, but no problems so far (12K).
Probably not going to tell much of a difference driving, but the extra few ponies made me go with the 228.

Then after the Comp 921 springs came out they had to "officially" rate the 918's at .600 so they wouldn't lose business on the 921 buyers...

I had the 224 cam and I wanted more after a couple months. I then went to the 236 I have now and it's still not good. I'd go ahead and just get something in the 230 range, they drive the same.

I can't tell the difference (drivability)between the 224 and 236. They 236 makes insane topend though, and there really isn't much low end loss. I break traction anytime in 1st or 2nd gear and if I floor it above 4,000prm in 3rd it lights up. A cam in the mid 230 range with bolt ons will garauntee 400+ rwhp -Joshua

I could'nt of said it better myself...

What up. i just installed a TSP 228/228 .588/.588 112LSA in my 2000 T/A new springs, new timing chain, oil pump and push rods, all bought from Texas Speed and Performance, I'm curios as to what Hp gains has anyone else that has used this set up got?? The car has 88,000 miles PaceSetter long tubes ORY Flowmaster cat back, (no cats) and a new RAM HD clutch that barely has about 100 miles on it. with out the cam i Dynoed 321RWHP, and 331RWTRQ last year at TSP. what can i expect out of this and also one more thing. has anyone done the Mail in Tunning offered by TSP is it worth the 200 dollars????

According to TSP's website the 224R cam gains approx. 35 rwhp and the 228R gains approx. 40 rwhp. The 228R is also a little higher up in the rpm range.

918's are fine for the 228R. I have the 228/228 .588/.588 112 LSA with 918 springs. Nothing to worry about. I daily drive it too.
