Ok we all know that the T-Rex was designed to get the most out of stock heads, but to say it won't work well with aftermarket heads is kind of missleading don't you think? I think it would be even better with heads given they are matched up well with the cam. I bet a set of p/p LS6 heads like TSP has out and the T-Rex would put down just as much power if not more than some of the smaller cams with "stage 3 heads"
Personally I can't wait to see the results of the ET215's and T-Rex.

Stock bottom end except ARP rod bolts and I did flycut, but the fycut was for stock 15 degree heads. With these 215 ET heads @ 58cc it still has more then .020 then my stock 67cc heads had. No need to flycut with this large came. 225 would be a different story.
All I can say for now is that my car feels extremely strong, but the proof will be in the coming weeks when I take it to the dyno and more important to me the TRACK!

Nothing wrong running a TREX, its just not optimized for the setup.
I plan on trying several cams with my ET 225 heads...trex included, but of course, I'm throwing another variable in there with the vic jr intake which will want something different cam-wise...

Yeah he's got some results alright. He isn't finished dialing in the car on the dyno yet. He's going to try a few different things. So far though the car made right around 470whp through his 4.56 gear'd setup. It also went to the track and went 10.9 @126+mph and still has more left in it.
When he gets back in town, he can give you more specifics on the combination.

sounds like a killer setup.
not a bash, but a heads up. Check the heil-coils on the rocker bolts. The ext. are blind, the int. breaks into the intake port. I found 2 "tangs" still hanging. They had the tang remover tool bent them over, but there were still barlly hanging. A magnetic flat ehad screw driver pushed them right off (there magnetic and stuck to the screw driver) So I guess you could do this on car... There very hard material, and would not have played nice with the running motor.

Did you install the cam with any advance or just leave it at 0? It sounds like to me that cam really can be tamed into a good daily driver. I wonder how well it'd match up with AFR 205's or any of TEA's 5.3 heads.

I also would have thought the T-Rex would not have been the best cam for this application. Not that its a bad cam. I believe it is XER 242/248 lobes on a 110lsa.
However the 11° ET215 heads may have worked better with a TRAK (LSK 231/XER 234 lobes on 112 lsa. Or even a setup with bigger, more T-Rex like duration and tighter LSA, but with the LSK intake.
Since Thunder is one of the first to list an LSK lobe in their stock cams, has such brilliant naming of key grinds (T-Rex, TRAK, CheaTR), and interesting combos (the CheaTR is so similar to an LS7 cam) I wonder why they recommended the TRex for the ET215 setup.

I didn't recomend it. It's just that he already had the TRex. IMHO it is as good a starting point as any. Basically I want to see if the ET heads are going to respond differently than other heads (although I think they have a lot going for them, I still think the intake is going to be a deciding factor on how the engine responds). We have done several different cams so far (some with LSK lobes and some without) with the ET Heads and the results have been suprising to say the least. Until I get a better handle on the data that I have and some that I am currently working on getting, the jury is still out on cam selection with these heads.
