Default does oil pressure have anything to do with weight transfer?

i've never really paid much attention to my oil pressure at WOT until i'm usually at about 80+ or so and its usually at about 60 psi, but i've been noticing on my take off whenever i floor it, the pressure drops to about 20 psi and then slowly starts building up...not sure if it drops because of weight transfer since the oil pump is more towards the front or if its because my pump is going bad(hopefully not though)? any input is appreciated.

NO it has nothing to do with weight tranfer. Sence the oil pick up tube in in the rear of the motor.

How much oil are you running? QT-wise that is. You can run up to 7 quarts in these motors on stock setup.

Id try adding half a quart, sounds like you might be getting air. Any other mods? Might try a thinner oil to drain back sooner too.

Incorrect. I have data logs of the White TT car we ran last year with an extra oil pressure sensor. I can time the start of the run/T-brake launch by the nearly instant drop in oil pressure as the oil climbs the back of the block and uncovers the pickup tube.

We had to run it 2 quarts over just to keep some oil pressure.

Partly why I run a drysump. And also why that car is getting an external wetsump with more baffles and a very reward pickup.

thanks for the input guys, my guess it would be weight transfer since it it goes down as soon as you floor it (mostly from a stop or a low mph) and rises back up to where it should, i really cant say much about the pressure going down from about a 50mph roll because i've never seen it drop when going that speed...i could be wrong about it though

My old 94 LT1 used to do that! I thought it was the same thing too, weight transfer. A few months after I noticed the oil pressure drop and rise, I overheated the car and had to change the head gaskets. After I replaced just the head gaskets, I had better oil pressure and the oil pressure would not on acceleration anymore. :dunno:
