i like mine a lot, but i'm on a 112 lsa. i wish i would have gone bigger though--like an FM13. but i'm very happy with it and i got some good numbers thanks to a wicked tune by gomer.

Thanks guys, really!! a million thank u's go out to everyone who posted and to anyone else who chimes in . because i'll use evey piece of knowledge you guys tell me from when the cam goes in(hopefully in a week or two) to other mods i do to the ride or till i go broke . oh and I am getting a tq convertor I forgot to mention it with all the cam talk. it's a vig 3200 and is on order as we speak but i would have changed it if you guys did'nt think it would go with the 224 114 or 224 112 .

Have you ordered the cam yet??

Get a custom grind. 224/224, .581/.581 113+3
0.050
224/224
113-LSA
110-ICL

2-IVO
42-IVC
48-EVO
-4-EVC
116-ECL
-2>Overlap

This is kinda of an in between 112 and 114 (Both of wich are +4 advance BTW)
It will carry power a little further while still benefiting from a little more under the curve than a 114

yes and no. it's the 224/224 .581/.581 114. it's an in stock item that they carry and strongly feel it's the only cam for me . so the biggest problem i have is that this is the cam they feel i should have. and when i try to bring up another cam say for instance the 224/112 they basically refute any attempts of me trying to go any bigger than the 224/114. i know they are experienced proffessionals and know the ls1 .but i will pass the custom cam that you mentioned on to them and hopefully they will feel it's not to large for a dd. because i read all the other post on here about "man i should've gone with a bigger cam". and i feel , even though it's my first cam that the 224/114 will be a little to mild for me. and i don't really want to fork out cash for another cam when it could go towards some heads later on. or till i get bored with which cam i can get. lol.

I think they are just BS you to get rid of their off the shelf item
The custom grind I mention is the same cam but with different LSA/ICL
TSP grinds my cams for the same price as their offshelf ones. $369, took 10 days to get it and I live overseas.

If you do not want to go custom (or wait), then I recommend the TR224, 114

Still though a 224 on eithor a 114 or a 112 LSA isn't a bad choice, you know it will be streetable. Provided you have the total package going on IE headers exhaust ect ect it will run toe to toe with cars with slightly bigger cams that don't have the whole package going. I doubt you'll get bored with it in a really short order. If this shop is really good then I'd go with it for now. Because it's an auto it will be alittle more tempermental to a larger cam than would a 6 speed car. Plus this gives you an idea on how to determine what is and isn't acceptable in a cam. Somebody on here once put it like this and I'm gonna borrow this phrase from them. Everybodies taste of what's a perfect cam for a DD car various as much as our taste for women. You have to find your particular flavor. You might find the 224 is right on, then again you might want more or less. If that's the case then you can sell the 224 for $200-$250 and basically pay $150 for another cam. Just about everybody on here has gone through at least one cam choice. Just like women, very seldom do you marry the first woman you date.

That is only true if you do not have a good tuner.
I used to think so too (in box thinking). I run a 232/234 113 cam with a stall and a VACUUM modulated tranny (MAF Tuned).
Take a ride in it and you'll say "WOW, you can't even tell there is a big cam in there"

Nowadays, MAFless tuning can even compensate for more radical cams with Autos, I've seen 110 cams on 106 ICL purr like kittens.
So that myth is long gone, get rid of it.

just my opinion but i wouldn't let someone rope me into a cam because they say that is the 1 you want.there are plenty of guys here(probably close by)that would let you check out there set up.in the end you have to live with the choice so try to make sure you get what you want the first time.good luck man

you cant go wrong with that cam. but for an auto, you might want to consider a 224/230 with the same lift@114. with todays tuning skills, youwont see any diffference in idle behavior yet youll put down more power. I believe LG has that cam specd out.

any cam at 112 lsa will be choppy.

Ive got the same cam but 112lsa on a STOCK Tranni A4 and it drives JUST FINE.. the only thing it does not like is stop and go traffic but a stall will fix that...
didnt notice it was an auto good catch predator, definelt do a converter first so the raised idle wont push the car
the only problem ive had with it trying to "push" the car is when driving in the snow..wich i dont do very often unless i HAVE to.

Like Keith said, it's all in the tune. Find a shop that does a lot of good LS1 work. Check your local boards.

m8 i have none of the probs u speak off as u herd it still ideals very nice[but i could be a little biasd lol],if the tuner knows his stuff then u will have no dramas with a cam of this size or bigger for that matter. ur paying the money,if thats what u know u want then go for it dd or not plenty of people drive there big cam cars every chance they get,me i love mine and may go i little bigger soon.as i said it all comes down to tuning oh and thats a mail order tune that i have with 400+rwhp so theres more in it and i am getting a full retune very soon so will let u know how it goes.good luck with ur cam choice, will be interesting to see wot u go with.
