224/224 .581/.581 114. only dd out there?
The reason i ask is because i'm about to purchase a cam. And i'm basically being told by the shop that anything else would be to big. Sorry guys if this is a stupid question but i'm lost. Just hoping i can be found. I've read on here numerous times that any cam is dd because it's all in the tune. I was hoping for something a little bigger. thanks
current mods are autometer gauges, msd window switch, taylor 409 race wire, ngk tr55 , ls6 intake, slp air lid , holley filter, slp loudmouth1, pacesetter lt with ory, tnt f1

i think you will be happy with that cam. its pretty much a given that you cant go wrong with the 224 cam. sometimes that little 224 cam puts down more hp and tq then some of the guys with bigger cams. its possible that a 224 cam can put down close to 390rwhp...youll have guys with huge cams only putting down 380ish... so i would get it...

thanks fellas i really appreciate the advice. All i really wanted was to have about or close to 400whp. Is a 112 in that cam really that much bigger that it would affect dd? oh and by the way it's an a4 with 3.23 gears. In all honesty i was really wanting the ms3.

a 224 cam will be a great daily driver but not your only/biggest choice. my cars a 3 season car and loved my old tr230 cam and my new cam isnt much bigger just a little more exhaust . great manners great mileage . alot of the drivabilty comes from tuning too so keep that in mind. i have seen people with daily drivien t-rex's , other than hisgas mileage it was pretty good. he also lived in a congested city

i think u'll be fine w/ a 224 114lsa cam on a 6sp(Speed Inc choice even though i was a 6sp). I had that in my SS when it was a DD H/C car and was great. Get ur cam on a 114lsa if ur an auto. Only other DD cam ive had experience w/ was the F11 on a 114lsa (my choice) on my old 99Z and it was very nice as well. My TA will soon be my DD w/ the F14 on a 112lsa and its loud & brash as hell which is ok for awhile but the appeal starts to wear off. It was my choice to go w/ a 112lsa hoping for more mid range TQ but i wish i would've gotten it on a 114lsa or have just went back to the F11. I might still change back to the F11 thats still in my wrecked Z. Plus i was told getting a big cam on a 112lsa is rough on ur tranny ( as to why) which i dunno if its true since i'd never heard that before but anyway that 224 should be good!!!

Before the cam, i would get a stall if I were you. You'll benefit more with a TC.
Especially if you are getting a 112. Idle will be raised and it will pull hard on your brakes at idle.
If you are still thinking of that cam then get a tC that fits its shift extentions, that way you'll have a matched combo.
I would say 3400/3500 stall with min 2.4 str
BTW I would also switch to TR6 plugs. Your TR55 are too hot for nitrous use, unless you are only shooting 50 shot.

VIG 3200 is really good, I've had mine for 2 years+ now
I had a TCI 3500 but it got trashed (slipping and chatering)
VIG 3200 is 2.5 str and actually flashes around 3600 NA/3800 on nitrous

dam!! that is actually something i would'nt mind going with, but the shop that i'm going to is just going to tell me it's too big of a cam for daily driving and be to much of a hassle i e surging ,cutting off etc..., . thanks gen3toy for letting me sample the pride of your ride.

you can go w/ any aftermarket cam( but im sure you'd perferably want one that plays well w/ ur TNT kit)) & as another said you go much bigger than a 224 cam and reach ur goal of 400rwhp or near that and still retain ur daily drivability so long as its tuned properly as perviously stated. Theres plenty of bolt-on+larger cam DD A4s making 380-400rwhp out there w/ stock heads.
