Default Ran into a snag while taking off my heads

I had all the head bolts out on the passenger side head but something was catching on the back not allowing it to lift off, so I find out there's a bracket there which holds the dipstick for the tranny. No ratches or wrenches of mine will fit back there, and I have alot of different sizes. Is a stubby wrench the only way to get this bolt?

I had to use a little stubby one to reach it, and even then it was tough.

It's not my hand size, it's the clearance for the tools

I just used a regular size 15mm ratchet wrench. Took some effort but I got it. I also found that its alot eaiser to get to from under the car, especially if you have LT's.

Yep I got to it from underneath with stock manifolds. I had the cat pipes off though and used a stubby 15mm wrench.

Never had the heads off, but that bolt would be a PITA from the top. If all else fails, pull the trans cross member and let the hole engine/trans assembly lean back, then it will be pretty easy to get at from the bottom.

Those bolts in the back of the heads suck.. they are 15 mm that I know for sure. All the grounds are a pain as well... I put all mine back on with one bolt, works fine and is alot easier then trying to thread 2 or 3 bolts back in back there.

A long wrench will work, just have to go across the engine bay towards the other head with it.. a ratchet wrench here would be a good idea. They are tight too, so be ready to use some muscles that you didn't think you had in the position you'll have to be in to reach them LOL.

I used a stubby ratchet wrench as well. I hate that bolt. Had I known about it before hand I might have cancelled the project.

I wouldn't stop the project for one bolt... but putting the exhaust back together with the Y pipe.. that was a bitch even with a lift. I know one thing for sure... anyone ever wonders why guys with race only setups don't run exhaust, and don't want to be hassled with it, there's good reason. Trying to fit pipes back together that are slip fit sucks! I know once my car's days on the street are over, the first thing I'm doing is taking the stupid Y pipe off.. and having some 3 bolt flanges welded on my collectors, and a set of bullet mufflers with turndowns are going on the end of them and that's it. Hell, if CT didn't have inspection at all like some states, I'd have left the Y off, gutted the LM off the back of the car, and probably just tossed some bullets on then.
